Since uploading on dA I've cropped the car-park which was sitting on the left of frame. The river takes you for a ride now

Yep the river does take you now.....getting rid of the carpark focuses your attention on the actual scene ..... maybe it was just me but I found the carpark very distracting!!

I agree with the comment about croping out the road...I don't think it really adds to the image at all. If you put your hand over the road the image doesn't lose its impact & gives it more a "wilderness" appeal...if that makes any sense at all!

I think you're right there. Just you lose the river mouth which I quite liked. This is hopefully going to be on the homepage of the local real estate agency
