Description It was late, the moon had risen high a few hours ago. You stood in a larger room with the royal family and many of the Shepherds. You had to admit it was great so see them again, since the wedding was a few months ago and not all of them were close. However, it was not so amazing to be here with Lissa's idea of a sleep over. It meant you as well as Frederick, were forced to stay up all night just on the off chance that anything could happen. Never has your body craved sleep more than right now. They have all been catching up for a few hours, you standing against the wall, every once in a while your eyes catch Frederick's. When that happened you averted them quickly, as if there was something interesting about Sully talking to Stahl. You did notice Donnie with his hair combed, a dress shirt and vest on and very close to Lissa. You eased in your boots, letting your weight fall on the wall. Donnie cleaned up nice, but you swear that his clothes looked a bit familiar, as if he borrowed them from Frederick.

"We should play a game!" Lissa called out suddenly, before smiling brightly at them all.

"Like children?" Chrom raised a brow at his sister before she slapped him lightly on the shoulder.

"Well- maybe not like children. Gotta protect your image, huh kingy?" She stuck her tongue out at her big brother with a bit of humor. "Adults can play games too, Chrom! Look, I'll prove it. Frederick!" You felt your tummy rumble with a bad feeling. Glancing to the man you could see that he too didn't have the best feeling about this. "Come sit down with us, we're going to play a game. A very adult game and you playing too will convince my bonehead brother that it's okay for him to have fun too!" You watched as Frederick's face fell into a grimace. "Come on, Fred! Don't you want your king to get rid of some of his stress?" Her leading question seemed to make the man think hard.

You push off the wall, walking over to Frederick. On your way you could tell the man was conflicted. The appealing prospect of Chrom relaxing was at war with his reluctance to trust Lissa. A very founded reluctance, the princess often liked to tease him. You placed a hand on his shoulder, the light blue armor absent from him this evening. You had offered him a reassuring smile, looking into those deep brown eyes. "I'll play too, Frederick. It will be okay, I promise. What's the worst that can happen?" Your voice was a whisper, it also seemed to offer him a bit of comfort before he stared at you.

"A lot could go wrong, I do not wish to drag you into this though, these are my vows to them, not yours." His deep voice was soft as he whispered. The sound made your heart skip a beat. You removed your hand before he felt your very core of warmth. His voice penetrated your very being.

"That's true, I don't have a vow to her, but I'm a retainer and your comrade all the same. What happened to the no knight left behind mentality that you had during the war?" You give him a playful smile before turning to Lissa who was waiting with her eyes locked on Frederick. You cleared your throat before finally speaking normally. "Lissa, we'll both play. In fact, I'll go first." You watched her expression melt into joy before she clapped happily. You felt Frederick follow you to them in the middle of the room, pensive about the situation.

"See, Chrom! Now you have to play." She stuck her tongue out at the man who sighed softly to agree.

"What game are we playing, anyway, Lissa? I mean what game is specifically for adults?" You tilted your head, questioning her. You hated the look on her face though, that suspicious grin. Clearly Frederick noticed it as well, you heard a gentle groan just behind you.

"Spin the bottle." You blink a few times, before your spine tingled, feeling the man behind you tense up as well. "It's gonna be fun!" You wondered how the woman was so calm, knowing that her almost boyfriend was here as well. You immediately looked to Gaius who had a gentle smile on his lips only broken by the sucker. Ricken had his hat pulled down hiding what you thought was a blush on the young man's cheeks. Vaike pumped his fist in the air, and Chrom worriedly looked down, Sumia putting her hand on his arm. "Oh! Don't worry Chrom. You and Sumia will just kiss on the cheek, unless it's you two. I'm not asking you to cheat on your wife. I love my big sister, after all." That seemed to ease his mind, smiling up to his sister.

You however gulped heavily. You'd have to kiss a Shepherd. Not only would you have to kiss one, you might have to watch Frederick... Upon thinking about any of the possibilities, your heart sank so far you had to take a deep breath. It was hard to get the vision of him kissing one of them out of your mind, though you smiled through it. You weren't ready to see him with a woman, your crush still strong. There was a silver lining though, Virion had not been present. At least the man wasn't an option for you to kiss. As far as you knew you'd never been kissed before, the prospect of him being your first was worrying. "Are you sure about this, Lissa?" You watched as the troops were forming a circle.

"Yup!" Lissa chipped happily. "Oh, you did say you were going first, right?" You feel a chill in you bones as she scurried behind you, pushing you into your place in the circle.

"No, I didn't forget." You sigh softly. Your word was basically a vow, so you took your seat, watching as Lissa placed an empty bottle in the center. As juvenile as this was, Lissa was dead serious about it. You had to wonder if this was all just an elaborate plan for her to kiss Donnie, you just were a casualty. Made sense, at least to you.

"Spin it!" She was enjoying your misery far too much.

You took a deep breath, praying to whatever god would listen as you let the bottle go. It spun far more than you thought it would- or perhaps it was the anticipation of who it would land on dragging this out. The bottle slowed down to a stop, the neck pointed at your lord. Slowly you look up to the blue haired man, who's eyes were a little wide. "I uh... suppose it's me." He chuckled a bit. You're heart seemed to heal a great deal when you realized it was just a kiss on the cheek. You pulled yourself up, nodding a bit before placing a quick chaste kiss on his cheek. "Heh." He seemed glad it was you, and with no theatricality his wife also seemed relieved.

"Well, that was strange." You shook your head, smiling to Chrom. "I suppose it's your turn, and I hope you land on Sumia." He nodded to you, before your eyes moved to Frederick, the man seemed a bit impressed.

Chrom's turn was quick as well, you hadn't been paying too much attention until there was a gasp. You looked to the bottle, noticing that it was on Frederick. Chrom's teeth were clenched. "Lissa!"

She chuckled softly. "What's wrong? Fred's a good knight. Show how much you appreciate him."

"By kissing?" The man hissed at his sister, who was laughing so hard it took a moment for her to calm herself. "This isn't funny!"

"Ha! It's hilarious!" She wiped her eyes with a happiness that only Lissa could show. "Just kiss him on the cheek. We'll make that a rule if it lands on the same sex, yeah?" Chrom grunted. "Unless you want to kiss him good and proper. Pucker up bro."

"Milord. You know she's not going to let this go." Frederick closed his eyes as Chrom took a page from your book. He quickly pecked a chaste kiss on Fred's cheek, forcing you to smile just a bit before the man looked to Lissa, who was laughing. "Satisfied, Milady?"

"I will be when you spin!" The laughter around you roared. Lissa cheered. "Yes! This will be an actual kiss! Finally. It better be good, Frederick! Make is amazing and you can stop playing. How's that for incentive?" You were going to have to watch him kiss someone, probably passionately now with that stipulation riding on this kiss. While you were preparing for the image that you knew you wouldn't be able to look away from because of the shock, he was preparing to spin. The laughter was finally starting to die though you were still trying to dump the oncoming unpleasantness from your mind. Your eyes dared to look at his face. His eyes were glued on the bottle, hands crossed over his chest, brows furrowed. The worry apparent on his face. Your eyes fell down to bottle as the glass started to slow on the marble floor. It skidded to a stop, the neck of the bottle pointing directly at you. Your eyes widen for a moment. You were so worried that you hadn't considered this an outcome. Your body felt lighter, the corner of your lip twitching into a smile that you forced down. Your mouth hung open, heart pounding so hard on your ribs you thought the others might hear.

Shyly you looked up to Frederick, the man was staring at you, dumbfounded. It must have been your imagination but you saw a soft rose color tinting his entire face. "Well, Milady..." His voice was soft, you gulped a heavy lump down finding it harder to suppress your fountain of emotions. "Shall we?" This was happening. You were going to kiss him. Never had you imagined that your luck would be this good. You nod slowly, watching him ease a bit. He somehow seemed less nervous now than before, which you assumed was because he was comfortable with you. It was a bit of a compliment of sorts.

You nod before pulling yourself out of your seated position. As gracefully as one could you crawled on your knees across the circle to Frederick, who was sitting on his knees. You felt his warmth as you got closer, stopping just before him, on your knees to be his eye level. Frederick took in a deep breath, his eyes locked with yours. His rough hand moved to stroke your cheek, softly. "I apologize, Milady. I really wish to not drag you into playing this any longer." His whispering warmed you. Cheek sinking into his hand you couldn't help but allow yourself this simple pleasure and smile.

"Fred... this will be my first kiss..." Your fleeting voice seemed to beg him, though the content was surprising to the man. It gave him pause, the nerves setting into you as his expressive eyes seemed to cry out on your behalf.

"Milady... I'll kiss your cheek. I can't steal your first kiss." His words, sweet and soft only made you like him more. The man was willing to keep playing simply to keep your ideal first kiss in tact.

Shaking your head slowly you moved your hand to cover his while it rested on your cheek. "No. It's my fault your playing, it's only fair that I get you out of it. Besides, if I keep playing I'm going to loose my first kiss anyway." You watched as your reasoning got to him. You were inching towards him trying not to appear too eager. "Kiss me, Frederick... Please." You watched as he nodded just a bit, inching towards you. The man licked his dry lips.

You both didn't even bother to notice how quiet everyone else was, simply watching. You were too wrapped up in the self indulgent moment, he was probably wrapped up in making it look the way Lissa wanted it to. His hand moved down your cheek, fingers cradling the back of your neck. His thumb caressed your soft cheek. The anticipation was almost too much as your eyes started to close. Finally, his lips hit yours, in a warmth you couldn't quite describe. Your brows raise slowly, the man tilted your head a bit more, his lips tugging yours nearly hungrily. Your heart swelled a bit falling into your first kiss slightly deeper. You swore a soft moan escaped your throat in a light rumble. His face pleasantly got a bit hotter. Your first kiss finally broke, taking a deeply satisfied breath. He would never know what that meant to you, though it wasn't the private flowery romantic moment you dreamed it would be, it was in some ways better. It was something you would always have. It was nice, as if he were almost trying to give you the kiss you'd always wanted. It was perhaps painted with the fact that he didn't want it like you had. A small stain on an otherwise perfect moment, dressed in an imperfect wrapper. Your eyes opened to lock with his. There was a hint of a smile on his face. That was a little unexpected. "That was better than I expected from you..."

"Consider it a thank you for saving me." His whisper was nearly drown out by Lissa softly giggling. Your attention from just him was broken, your eyes slowly moving over to her. A few of your comrades were staring in amazement, forcing an awkward feeling to stir within you. Clearing your throat, the warmth of his hands finally fell from you leaving an emptiness stewing inside you.

"That was amazing!" Lissa sighed happily as if she were witnessing a play. "I'll keep my word! Frederick, you're free to go." She looked to you with a gentle smile. "Do you wanna spin now?" You look down for a moment at your coat, smiling softly, though a bit sadly as Frederick lifted himself up to happily take his place on the wall again, simply watching. The one fleeting moment of happiness fell as you realized that the wonderful kiss was a means to an end for him. "Oh... too hard to follow that kiss, huh?" You attention darts to her with a deep blush on your cheeks. "Yeah, you might be hard pressed to find another as good."

Gaius smirked softly, pulling the sucker from his mouth. "It wasn't that good. I could knock her boots off with one kiss. That knight has nothing on a knave. Spin the bottle sweetheart, and if it lands on me I'll give you a proper kiss. One that might not end until you fall asleep in my arms." You tilted your head, finding humor in the situation. Gaius was the kinda guy that seemed to never give up, at least that was a good trait on the battle field. You straightened up hearing a familiar clearing of a throat. It was loud, deliberate and sort of comforting.

"Knave you are but you shall not even dare." Frederick was staring at Gaius with a powerful confidence. "She has told you once before she doesn't wish to lead you on. Respect her. Do you always have to be so crass?"

"Easy for you to say chuckles." He shook his head. "You just got to kiss her."

Frederick narrowed his eyes, his teeth clenched. He motioned towards you. "She's a lady. Our kiss was necessary. I didn't disrespect... I did wish to... I wasn't being crass... She agreed to it and I just-"

"Whatever chuckles. It's okay, you enjoyed it. We all saw. Be man enough to admit it." Gaius waved off Frederick, before he looked to you. "If you don't want to play, bubbles, just don't play. I'm just letting you know that I'll kiss you so good that you'll forget all about him." He winked to you playfully.

Feeling that Gaius was toying with you, your fragile emotions shook you to your core. Whether he meant to or not, his words hurt you more than the intended victim of his teasing. You sighed softly, looking to Sumia. "Milady..." Your face was entirely red, your stomach grumbled softly. "I Apologize so much, but may I be relieved of my duties for tonight? I'm just.... not feeling well. I feel nauseated."

"Oh gosh! Please, Robin. Get some rest." Sumia smiled comfortably to you. The woman really was gentle and loving, it was no wonder why Chrom valued her so much. You stood up, unable to bring yourself to look at the knight, fearful of his real feelings. Actively avoiding his gaze, you hesitated for a moment.

"Thank you." Your voice was weak as you hastily made for the large door. It was a whirlwind, everything seemed to happen so quickly that you found yourself in the darkened hallways a moment later. It took a moment but you finally could carry on. You found yourself exhaling miserably, trying hard not to cry. On your way back you found yourself simply trying to cope. The quiet allowed you a simple moment to collect your thoughts on your way back to your room. This was all harder than you thought it would be. "Gods I... I allowed myself to fall into that moment far too easily. Letting myself believe- How could I do that?" You were slightly disappointed in yourself. "Maybe I should consider actually settling down with Gaius?" You held your palm to your chest, shaking your head. Your heart beat under your own grip. "I don't feel that way for him, but he does actually care about me. It wouldn't be so bad, would it? It might even let me stop pining over... I could grow to love him, right? So many women are arranged to marry, they grow to love their husbands."

You stopped just before your door, looking to the wood with a depressed smile. "I'll forget all about..." Your smile had faded, the muscles simply not able to keep it going. "Frederick." After a moment you groan. Hearing it out loud was worse than just thinking it. You turned, leaning on the door with a gentle rage growing inside you directed at yourself. "Oh, Robin. What the hell are you doing? This isn't you! You're not someone who simply rolls over without trying. You don't take the path of lease resistance." Your hand moved over your face, grunting a bit before you tap your cheek in a light slap. "After that kiss... That mind blowing kiss. I can't ignore my feelings anymore. It might not have meant the same to him but the reason I fell into that moment so easily is because that's all I want. It's all I think about in my spare time. And he deserves to know. It's only right. He'd stop any further situations like that. He might not feel anything back but he's your friend and he would keep the situation together." You sigh softly, letting your muscles rest on the door, looking up at the vaulted ceilings that were dimly lit. "Or he might suggest we no longer see one another. Either way- it's better than not knowing."
