Page 8. In all it's Kataangy glory!
Panel 1. Katara puts on the watertribe charm.
Aang is defenseless against it.
Panel 2. A FULL ON Kataang kiss.
It's not as creepy when he's older and more masculine.
Panel 3. Katara in Aangvision!
WE GET IT!!! She's pretty.
Panel 4. Aang gets his first line of dialogue.
Panel 5. Why aren't they on Appa? Well, they're using this modified glider so that Appa doesn't have to carry them around every time they want to hang out. They're just being compassionate. Plus this way is more intimate, and probably smells better.
In this storyline, Sokka modified one of the gliders they were using at the N. Air Temple. He added the hammock type thingie they're suspended in. 
Panel 6. Momo sleeps.
Alright. Next page we're back at the Palace with our favorite pair of star crossed ... er, friends.
I may keep the sketchier style ...
It's faster.

I'll try to illustrate how beautifully their friendship has developed, and how exquisitely they fit together.
You know, This whole thing was sort of a personal journey for me. I don't hate Kataang. I mean I like both characters. I think it was the way it was told in the show, the fact that he's a child monk, and the overpowering magnetism of the Zutaran dynamic. But in this story I seek to make peace with Zuko and Katara's 'other' loves.

I watched and rewatched the 1st 2 seasons so many times ...

It was the one in which the naughtier supports kept touting that the pair had...well...gone all the way...'cos they were snuggling on the couch with no visible chaperone. As if Zuko would stain Mai's honour like that!
Zuko was in total 'I'm so confused and totally hate my life' mode...and Mai TRIED to be helpful and supportive, but didn't know how. And at the end Zuko said the infamous line that turned his character around..."During the meeting I was the perfect prince, the son my father wanted...but I wasn't me..."
It's also where Mai's love of fruit tarts and palanquin rides came from...

Yeah, I'm sure lovedork Zuko layed his girlfriend of like 2 weeks in full view of the guards.
[YUP, I remember the guards who were ready to bring them fruit tarts.]
Also they were both fully dressed (turtle necks, belts, robes) and wearing shoes! Even feeling her up would prove difficult.
It's one of the episodes that really turned me off of the M-word.
Zuko was still in his bastard mode, having wiped his arse with his prior development.
He was also living it up while Iroh suffered in prison.
Sickening. I'm actually getting pissed just thinking about it.
I remember saying that if THAT is who Zuko was, Mai could have him.
She was cool with him being an unbearable a-hole.
I really believed that when he abandoned that part of his life,
It would include Mai.
Look, some people were fine with the 'romance' in Avatar. That's their business.
I wasn't so much. But what are you going to do? [Draw tons and tons of romantic ZUTARA art?]
Oh, and by the way, Sokka and Suki in his tent, THEY WERE GOING ALL THE WAY, or damn near close.

In Panel four Momo is pulling a Sabastian (from the Little Mermaid) and whispering Zuko's name in Katara's ear.
