-Exemplar is a 8 foot tall nuclear powered mech, covered in steel plating strong enough to deflect small arms fire. The TITAN-B mech, constructed by ONI, was a model intended for mass production. The project was later scrapped in 2433 due to lack of AI technology, and many of the mechs were used for salvage parts and target practice. However, one of the surviving mechs was used in an experiment labeled “Project Exemplar”. This is where 049'er comes in. Miles November, or 049'er, was a young hotshot pilot for the UNSC, carrying out a variety of combat missions on the front lines in the interest of air superiority. In 2560, only a couple of years after the Human-Covenant war, ONI was desperate to gain the technological edge over the Covenant. During a reconnaissance mission over the icy planet of Ikora, 049'er was shot down by ONI’s Anti-Aircraft guns. Miles crashed on a mountainside, and his broken body was preserved in the snow until ONI’s extraction team arrived. ONI brought his body back to a lab, where they revived Miles and cut his skull open. While conscious, 049'er had his brain extracted, cut apart, and hardlight scanned. The data, along with Miles’ soul, was stored in an AI chip and dropped into an ONI TITAN-B mech. When Miles came to, he escaped the ONI facility and wandered through the snow for days. Unsure of his own identity, he dropped his own name, and took on the name that was hardcoded into his AI chip. Project: “Exemplar”.-
