Description Power Ropers
It was a fairly normal day I think I was 8-9 in age and had a bit of homework for the day.  When I finished I saw my mom heading for the door and it was raining outside.  I asked her where my brother was and she told me he went to play with Andy (neighbor girl little older than my younger brother blond hair blue eyes).  It was strange because back then we pretty much never had anything to do with Andy.  Mom was heading out the door and she asked me to find Peter and tell him to come out of the rain.  So I grabbed my hooded raincoat and went outside headed toward the neighbor’s house.

It was pretty easy to deduce that Peter and Andy were probably at the fort.  The fort was a pretty impressive structure it was made of wood and it had 3 floors to it, and while the first two floors weren’t all that impressive the top one made a great hideout or base for the many make believe games we played.  From pretty far back I saw an umbrella in the middle of the top part.  I yelled to Peter to come and he didn’t reply.  I yelled again and still nothing.  Finally I started making my way up and what I saw was a complete surprise to me.

Peter was there huddled near Andy with Umbrella in hand and there Andy was tied to a chair with this really long jump rope.  He had been able to loop it around both her wrist forcing against the two arm rest of the chair, had it looped around her body and arms pinning them to the chair’s back.  He even looped her legs to the chair legs.  He used pretty much ever length of the jump rope.  Even with the umbrella they were both very wet, Andy was only wearing a white t-shirt and white flower skirt, and you can only imagine how that ended up for her.

I just stood there dumbfound for a bit but then said, “Mom says you need to get inside so we probably need to untie Andy.”  Peter started protesting with me because he was pretty happy he had apparently tricked her into getting tied up(I know what he really did but man was it silly and doesn’t speak much for Andy’s intellegence).  I was finally getting Peter around to my side when Andy got her right arm out of the chair.  She then said, “We can play this some more inside if you want.  No one is at home and it’s better than watching tv.”  Wow that was a surprise.  Alright then.

So we untied Andy and went to our house where we were also left parentless.  Being the ever responsible one I said Peter and Andy should change close to avoid getting cold.  Which was easy enough for Peter but it was a problem for Andy.  With some quick thinking we grabbed this really ugly T-shirt of Peter’s and an old pair of shorts I used to wear for soccer but I was getting to big for.  With us all dressed we went down to the basement.

Our basement was a great place to play it was huge especially for a bunch of kids less than 10 years old, we had lots of toys and lots of places to sit and lay down.  We quickly made things into a game where Andy was a princess while Peter and I wanted to kidnap her for a ransom.  We were about to tie her up when Andy begged us not to use the jump rope because it was uncomfortable (not to mention wet).  Peter and I immediately came up with an alternative to that instead using the shoelaces from a bunch of our old shoes.  We came up with a total of six that were useable and went to work.  First trying Andy’s wrist behind her and using three more to bind her arms to her body.  With the final two we tied her ankles and legs up.  It was great she wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

So the three of us watched tv, the first half of an episode of Power Rangers.  About then Andy suggested we play something else, Peter and I figured she’d been tied up long enough so we untied her and played Power Rangers for awhile.  We had just defeated an army of puddies when our made of villain showed up, and I bet you can guess what he did.  If you guessed tied up Andy with some weird monster power then you were right.  So Peter and I grabbed some old yarn and wrapped it around Andy many times.  It was all around her wrist, her arms and her ankles.  We probably used 2-3 times more than we really needed but we wanted to make sure the Pink Ranger was no longer a problem(ever notice that her bow was one of the most dangerous weapons of the original 5?)  So Peter(black ranger) and I(Red Ranger) finished the monster with a cunning plan so brilliant only a kid could come up with it(or I don’t remember the plan anymore).  So with the monster dead it was time to free Andy.

Almost instantly we found the problem with yarn as a tying material.  While very easy to use ld of in my house once a knot is made in it, it can’t really be undone.  After trying for a few minutes we found Mom’s sowing scissors and cut the yarn throwing all the scraps in the trash.  After that the rain was starting to die down, we put Andy’s still dry clothes in a bag and sent her on her way.

That would be the first of many tie up games we would play with Andy and later some of her friends as well.
