Description About time I uploaded this one XD

A long while back, I did a favour for , which he repaid by offering me a commission piece. I opted for a ref sheet for the Spiderbee, a fictional creature I had planned to feature as part of some worldbuilding in the future.

Spiderbee workers are rather sedate creatures for their size, roughly equivalent to a labrador in length and height. They primarily carry out their duties looking for foodstuffs or building materials in the wasteland continent north of their home nests.
Spiderbees are partially controlled by a hive-mind originating from their nest's queen, and as such generally go about their daily life on autopilot, with some instinctual behaviour when the need arises. However the various anomalies found in the wastes can sometimes disrupt this link, leaving the bees lost and confused. This sadly results in the death of the Spiderbee after a period of time, unless they are found by another creature.

Spiderbees in a lost state are very tame however, happily latching on to anything or anyone they identify as a potential friend. This has lead to something of a market for finding and capturing lost spiderbees, as they make excellent pets that are very easy to train.

One quirk of the spiderbee is an innate need to protect their newfound owner once they have properly acclimated to them. This normally manifests with them wanting to remain close, normally sitting on their head of hanging onto to their back, but can result in the spiderbee acting like a guard dog, aggressively buzzing their wings when a stranger is approaching.
One quirk that owners are recommended to train their Spiderbee out of, or at the very least control as soon as possible, is a spiderbee's almost instinctual need to coat their owner in honeyed-webbing. It's not yet known if this is a playful gesture, like play-fighting, or if this is actually a behaviour spiderbees perform with their hive queens, but it can lead to very awkward situations as Spiderbee webbing is notoriously difficult to escape from unassisted.

A word of caution for would-be hunters however - whilst spiderbees are very valuable finds, Spiderbee soldiers are very aggresive and dangerous creatures, use extreme caution when dealing with a soldier. Best case scenario you're captured alive and taken to the hive, worst case you're left to slowly die following a sting. Either way, you're not going to come back.
