Well ~
The story here related is what happened to the Portuguese ship, Madre de Deus.

Basically what happened was:

The alliance during the Iberian Union (the union btw Portugal and Spain), was without effect.
And, in 1592, England was near Azores (with 6 ships) waiting for the Spanish ships, but instated a Portuguese ship came from India.
They killed the people and tortured the people from that ship. Those people said that other ship was coming, and they waited from it, and it was the Madre de Deus.
A lot of Portuguese died there, the Capitan, Fernão de Mendonça Furtado, and the rest of the wounded were send to the coast.
