Description An ink portrait of one of my favorite poets Walt Whitman, done after reading a few pages of his book, "Leaves of Grass." I went looking around online regarding a couple of his poems, and came across a photograph of him that had been taken from what I gathered, not long before he passed. I was different than many of the other photographs I had seem of Whitman. The image inspired me to try to express the feeling of solitude, and longing that I felt from the image. This was the result, unlike most of my other pieces this was not planed, actually I had barely even sketch an outline before I started painting out the image with water and a black maker. This I would have to say is my personal favorite of the few pieces I have painted and drawn.
