The first of my tributes to the Friendship is Magic premieres/finales we've had over the years. It's still hard to believe it's been NINE YEARS since the show started, and I decided to draw some tributes to each of the premieres and finales we've had over the years.
This is for where it all started - the very first episode, Friendship is Magic.
(Wow, it feels weird drawing Twilight without her wings. 
) I was actually struggling to think about what to do for this one, but I decided to draw it based on the book at the start of the episode - truly where it all began. It has been quite a while since I drew Nightmare Moon, and I decided to draw something based on her rising from the moon with the stars aiding her escape. 
Hope it turned out alright.

And to think that Twilight started as a unicorn who wanted nothing to do with friendship until she met Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. She's come quite a long way from being Celestia's pupil to the Princess of Friendship.
