Comparison between the finished kitbash and an unmodified example of the toy. The fact that every toy in the line used the same robot chest piece meant that the cab area isn't tall enough to line up with the bed.

Although it's not obvious here, there's a grid pattern molded into the top and back of the bed. Also, the black water tank chunk is glued and pegged in place...the glue's not good, but it's enough to leave an outline, hence making the bed cover.
