Description

Remember when I said I had another design for Moth from A Midsummer Night's Dream? That's him on the right. His design is based on the Caloptilia genus of moths. If you haven't seen them I recommend looking them up, they have a delightfully weird shape. Rather than having long arms, I pictured him as being bent with a little cane.

In comparison to the quite humanoid Moth is an unnamed sprite. They're designed based on design principles laid out by Tony Diterlizzi for his sprites: taking insects and plants and turning them into little people. This one is specifically based on Tolmiea menziesii, a weird looking local flower called the piggyback plant. They're highly social and can stand low humidity despite being from the ultra-wet Pacific Northwest.

Like all the sprites I draw, a hold-over from the Spiderwick series (I believe Care and Feeding of Sprites), they glow with an internal light; both mirroring fireflies and showing their spiritual nature, like the most miniature of will o' the wisps.
