Dorygnathus is a pterosaur known from the middle Jurassic of Germany. It is a non-pterodactyloid pterosaur, with a long tail and short skull. It had formidable teeth arranged in a basket-like formation. Soft-tissue preservation of other non-pterodactyloid pterosaurs like Jeholopterus and Sordes demonstrate that these animals had furry bodies, with fluffy tips to their wings, most comparable with owls.
