Depending on the number of characters present and frequency of shots' changes, analyzing each episode took from less than an hour up to three.
Estimated total time spent: 110 - 150 hours.
Margin of error:
Since the timers of the video players I used show only full seconds, I had to guess how the fractions of seconds were long when added up together.
On average, in each episode there may be a 10 second difference between the real screentime of a character and the screentime I calculated - but since it can be either more or less than reality, given the number of episodes and the fact that all of the characters are prone to this miscalculation, the overall screentime difference will probably be negligable.

I don't think that the way you calculated their screen time percentage is correct. You took their number and divided by their numbers together. Applejack's 9905 divided by the total 78132, which gives 12.68%. What I find wrong in doing this way is that; if 2 ponies appears in a scene that is 3 seconds. They will both get 3 seconds as their screen time, but then you take 3 divided by 6 where 6 is their total time together when there are just 3 seconds.
What you should do is take their screen time and divide by total length of the show. An episode from start to the beginning of the end credits is 21:30, 35 seconds intro and 36+43+71 seconds "In the previous..." which gives a total of 65110. Dividing their time with this will give these numbers: 15.21% 15.17% 17.13% 16.81% 17.05% 12.48% 26.16% which I think is more correct.
Your number 78132 says that each of the 52 episodes are about 25 minutes (or 8 more 21:30 episodes). A little more time than there actually is.

As I understand it, the idea of this percentage calculation is not to find out:

That means an Episode that focuses on Twilight will result in a higher percentage for her than an Episode about the whole Mane Cast, even if she is visible for the same amount of seconds in both. This might be useful if you want to take into account how much emphasis is laid on a character instead of observing mere screentime.
Using that example, measuring the "Pony Character Time" would result in 100% in a Twilight-only Episode and 17% in a full Mane Cast Episode for Twilight. Measuring the Screentime on the other side - if every Mane character were visible for half the episode - would result in 50% in a Twilight-only Episode and 50% in a full Mane Cast Episode for Twilight. I hope that illustrates the difference. Both approaches are legit, they just answer two separate questions
(To avoid misunderstandings: The graph actually does measure the Screentime. It is only the percentage calculation that goes for Pony Character Time.)

I just wanted to say I'm happy to hear more fans wanting to hear Spike sing. I've been really wanting it since Season One, but I've been vocal about it since early Season Two. Have you seen any of the first generation MLP? The G1 Spike sang many songs. Not saying they were great, but that's something FIM Spike needs to do. Come on, writers -- make it happen! I'm not angry at the writers, but I'll admit, it does bother me that we haven't heard him sing yet. Come on!

When I first read "Spike having a song" my first thought was the Swedish dub, where Spike sings instead of Rainbow Dash, so I thought he had a song for a split second.
Anyway, more Fluttershy and give Applejack a song. Well, Fluttershy haven't got a "real" song either? It was Filly Fluttershy, and the other was just a short lullaby. I want a real Fluttershy song!

The VA for Rainbow Dash can't sing, so the VA for Spike sings instead. It sounds strange. She also makes the voice (and singing) for Sweeite Belle and sounds like Spike, which makes it confusing.
Season 3... I think it will be even more brony than Season 2. This kinda scares me, and would make it interesting too. The meme "Fluttershy is a tree" went so far it got into the show. That scene was strange and... strange. I wonder how that scene would look like without that meme. Also, "Scootaloo is a chicken", "Apple Bloom/Sweetie Belle is a dictionary", "Rarity is a marshmallow"... won't end good...
The Pet song made me disappointed... I think it's bad for some reason and I keep forgetting it too.

I really feared for Seasons 2 since the Finale of Season 1 set the bar so high, but I was pleasantly surprised. And the Finale of Season 2 surpassed all expectations
It is hard to tell what is the humor of the fans and what came from the production team itself. They pointed out that quite some of the things that we believe to be nods towards the fans were actually inserted to amuse themselves. But one may dream

One thing I don't understand, shouldn't the characters percentages add up to over 100%, since some characters appear on screen together. It seems like the sum of 100 would create flawed data.

My only complaint would be that it can be difficult to distinguish Rainbow Dash's and Rarity's lines.
Perhaps make Twilight's line a lighter lavender color and Rarity's a deep purple?
