this was an actual commission i did, not a "convention" commission (never again for that price..he was lucky)

i dont do these often cause they take so much time. my comm's are pretty much cover quality. so i dont get a lot of time to do 'em.

i was very happy with the end result on this one for many reasons. so prepare ur ears to hear some self stroking..

as much as i love drawing a sexy ass chick...i love drawing sensual women too. i just love to see women with the look and feel of peace and gracefulness...its very attractive to me..so i draw it. i find that things like brining the shoulders in, tilting the head off to the side, hair flowing, pouty lips and most effective is the closed eyes, all help give that heavenly sensual feel i like to do. i did all those except the shoulder thing. i think the shoulders "in" look, make the girl look more vulnerable and i didnt want that here. its supergirl u know?

a technique i use in just about anything is the "medium, bid and small" thing i talked about in...i think it was a witchbalde drawing on here somewhere. and what helps that even more is thinking in terms of "LOCKS", as in locks of hair. i draw a chunck of hair, (or chunck of cape, like in this drawing, and i use it in drawing anything) and seperate the next smaller chunck of hair by putting detail (or hair going off in a diff direction) inbetween the hair..to help seperate it. and i find it helps give the illusion of depth.. and makes the locks really stand out. if u look at the cape its more evident near the shoulders. but thats just one way of doing it.

if ever u want to know how to seperate blacks and whites..look at Mike Mignola...he's the best. and an easy explanation of all of it...is not letting black touch black...from what i understand...when ever theres black drawn...have white behind it to seperate it...and that automatically creats layers... equals to depth.. if u look at the cape by her left (our) elbow, and the cape by her right shoulder, its pure balck....but behind her....a la Mignola....theres pure white. again, its not letting black touch black...in this case its the black space behind her. again this is bare bones put..so go study and de-code the science behind it.

oh another thing i try never to do is have "limbs" completely even or parallel to each other...even when standing, when limbs are most likely to be parallel..i feel it makes a figure look stiff. very stiff..i try to always have one higher than the other. its across the board on this drawing...one eye is higher, one shoulder is higher, waist, hips, knees, and the feet ALL have one side higher than the other...i think it just brings more energy and life into it with out having all kinds of action thrown in.

when im trying to go for eye candy, throwing things all over the place helps...like spidermans webs or wonderwomans laso...but supes here aint got that...and shes just floating in LaLa land...so i simply had everything going left(ours) while she, herself is going right..

theres something called a "tangent" and that typically means...well its too hard to explain..it usually ends up with something u drew that makes a veiwer looks at ur piece and tilts his head and say to himself "wtf is wrong with that"?? so when something winds up looking wierd on accident its prob a tangent.. i was told never to cut a piece in half..cause that might give the effect of "wtf is wrong with that".... in this case its the placement of the planet, u are never suppost to put in in the middle of the paper to cut it in half...it subconsiously makes the eyes think its almost two seperate images..or some shit like that. so i tried to lower it in hopes to avoid that.

im happy with the olympic-like legs she has..omg, thats hot..and again, i represented the ass...GO ASS!!
