Description
Arbovenator stasii, "slow tree hunter" or most commonly known as the red treecreeper, is a large arboreal predator native to the forests of lower northwest Apertamundi. They are definitively the most intelligent organisms on Turion. Spending almost their entire lives in the "trees" they are specialized in hunting soft-bodied flying organisms known as aeroslugs. Treecreepers are incredibly vulnerable on the ground, as they are incapable of moving quickly and are at risk of predation from larger predators. They aren't defenseless of course, they use those large claws on their limbs to hunt and defend themselves. They have been shown to use tools such as sticks by manipulating them with their strong tongues and using them to find food more easily. Usually this involves using sticks to fish out aeroslug eggs from inside the trees they thrive in.
They are also incredibly aggressive towards other members of their species, they tend to live very solitary lives until breeding season, where males will leave their trees to find the largest most fit females they can. Of course this is incredibly dangerous, even if the males are successful in finding a female, the female might very well just decide to kill him. This is usually because the female has already had a mate, or does not want a mate at all. And much like most other arthriformes, the females are larger than the males. The drawing here illustrates a female as males are only half that size
