These tiny devices would need to be quite sophiticated; that hole you can see is a valve that can regulate the in- and out-flow of oxygen or carbon dioxide at pressures up to 100 megapascals. If one of those valves failed it would emit a stream of high pressure gas and result in localised trauma. You don't to have fauly respirocytes floating around in your body.
