Description A tutorial on asses is the best thing since asses were invented. Hail the caboose!

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Arvalis has rightfully pointed out that the distance between the pelvis and the ribcage is too long in my drawings.
It should be around 2 inches, instead of 4 or so.

It wouldn't take long to correct that, but I don't wanna, as I actually like it a bit better than when it's done realistically.

The emphasis of this tut is on 'smexyness'!
I never meant to make it into a tutorial about anatomy, that's why I kept the parts about the muscles and the bones super-simple.

There are definitely much better tut's on anatomy than this one, in case pure anatomy is what you're looking for.

Ahh nice tut. It's nice for the skinny gals.

Butt (haha) for the huge asses, I have to exaggerate a lot of this. To keep it believable, I widen out the pelvis and thighs. If it's a crazy huge donk, the glutes sag down with a bit of overhang, and the smaller glutes get some definition. They'll even look like the simpler butt since all the fat pushes the cheeks together.

It's kind of like the breast tuts. They're really good for the perfect set of C's, but any more on you're on your own in hentailand.

It's a really nice tut tho, and anything towards a damn fine donk is good in my book.

That's true... I'm not really qualified to make a tut about the big trunks, I think... but I imagine it's not that much different, you just gotta know what parts are the sweetest and let 'em grow

This is fairly good amount of knowledge here. I thinking a little more anatomy knowledge would really help you. This tutorial actually explains why your torsos are often too long. When they draw skeletons, or display them, the gap between the pelvis and ribcage is unrealistic. There are many differences between a living and a dead skeleton. On a living person, there is no more than a 2 inch gap between pelvis and ribcage, the ribcage will actually slide into the "bowl" of the pelvis when bending to the side. You can feel on yourself that there is little to no gap there. When they assemble a dead skeleton, its really hard to put together, so they do the best they can. One of the most important parts of defining hips is the Great Trochanter(GT), which is the large protrusion of the femur right at the hip. The GT sits at the same level as the pubic symphasis(that bony area right above genitals) and serves as the exact half way point on the body. You probably want to go over the sacrum and the post superior iliac crest(PSIS). These are incredibly important to defining the area leading right into the ass. The sacrum is entirely subcutaneous, and almost all the muscles of the back including the gluteous maximus are attached to it. Sorry if i seem a bit verbose, but when youre doing an anatomy tutorial, i feel you should really know your shit first. Thats why i held off on making a tutorial for so long, i wanted to make sure i knew anything worth sharing.

True that, I definitely tend to make the torsos somewhat lenghty and there's probably at least twice as much distance between the pelvis and the ribcage as in reality. I appreciate you pointing it out, but... I kinda like how it looks the way I draw it ^_^' . I probably picked it up from Shirow...

Please don't be disappointed, but I don't agree with your approach to art.
You're an analytical type. You obviously invest a lot of time into studying anatomy. But that's why your drawings tend to give off the vibe of vintage anatomical illustrations. They have very little perspective, the postures feel rigid and contrived. While the attention to detail is impressive, the entirety of the composition seems to be left with little purpose, other than the purely practical one of filling in the space around the subject.

I know this sounds like I'm criticizing you, but actually I'm not - I'm criticizing this particular approach to art, of which I'm often quite guilty myself!

I want to get away from this mindset. I'm an intuitive type. I believe that art should have entertainment value, it should be captivating, unorthodox, daring, surprising, pleasurable and sometimes even shocking.
Anatomy is a means to that end, not an end in itself!

That's why I really have no intention of learning the latin word for every bone and muscle... I learn by making mistakes, I welcome mistakes and I like it when people point out flaws in my work.
But I don't really like being told that I should not make mistakes... I feel like you assume that all mistakes are bad and should be avoided and feared. But I think that some 'mistakes' can be quite beautiful. Deviation from the norm is usually unwelcome, but sometimes it's precisely the thing that turns an ordinary drawing into a piece of 'art'. That's why I don't really care for tiny mistakes, so long as the overall image looks great. It would be a different matter of course if the mistakes actually affected the whole appearance of the piece negatively. So yeah... Can you see where I'm coming from?

Again, please don't get the wrong idea - I totally welcome critique, but I really don't ever want to get into so much detail as you've presented here.
If people actually expect this level of perfection in a tutorial by ecchi mia, I would advise them to take an anatomy course and use photographic references instead...

Interesting take to be certain. I only brought the anatomy stuff up because you did touch on it in your tutorial. It doesnt matter what style you end up drawing, learning the basics can only help you. The more you understand things, the more you can understand how to break conventions. The problem comes when you just make things up through trial and error, its very obvious that you dont know what youre doing. This is not to say you dont know what youre doing, youre on the right track here, but more knowledge can only help you.

Id like to hear you elaborate on my this analytical drawing style. As far as myself, i focus heavily on design, i dont just throw in detail for shits n giggs. I just get inspired by concept art pieces, i really enjoy the hunt when character designing. There is so much more to a character than tits ya know . I agree that i need to move into more scenescapes for sure. Right now im just trying to bring my character pieces up to pro level, then moving into big scenes. Ive always had a lot of difficulty with abstract art, i simply cant think that way, at least yet. Ive only had a year of art school, so i figure ill come into my own soon enough. Lots of time to grow. I really appreciate the input from my elders, anything you have to crit me on is appreciated

I'd like to share a few thoughts with you about criticism:
I don't really like giving criticism that's based on observational errors. I find it very constricting (if you become afraid of doing mistakes, you will try to be extra careful about details and quickly forget the big picture).
Like I said, art isn't about imitation, it's about imagination. That's why the better approach is to ask yourself: what is it that I want to create and what am I doing right or wrong relative to that goal?
For example, if you want to do, say, character design for videogames, which a 3d-artist then turns into a 3d-model, then most of your pieces would do the job wonderfully, in my opinion.
If you want to create artwork that is 'an end in itself', so to speak, then I would say that it's not really accomplishing that goal...
A good way to 'test' if a drawing or painting is really 'alive' is to try and imagine how it would look as a photograph. Is it enough to just put a guy in a funky costume in front of the camera and make a full-body shot of him as he's simply standing there?
Usually not. That probably wouldn't be a terribly interesting and artful photograph.
The same rules apply to painting and drawing - one should consider the whole picture as 'one thing', with every element working together to achieve a 'common goal', rather than trying to look as best as possible by itself. This means that sometimes one should be prepared to sacrifice parts of the image if it will lead to a more interesting piece overall.
So when you say that you should do more scenscapes, I think you've missunderstood what I was trying to bring across; sometimes giving only a hint of the landscape can make a picture appear to be much more complete than painting out everything.
I prefer to think along the lines of "how can I visually express my idea best", rather than "how can I create as technically perfect a piece as possible", although the second thought is in some cases necessary to complete the first...

Uuumm, yeah, sorry if that's confusing. As I said, I'm an intuitive type, so I have a hard time coming up with the right words to express my thoughts .
Also, I definitely haven't even mastered these concepts, so think of it as 'experimental thinking'. Could be that I'm a 100% wrong! I never went to art school .

And if you disagree with me, that's also fine ! We'll just wait and see whose approach is gonna be more successful, ahahaha .
