Personality:

Matteo is socially awkward and shy, prefering to tinker on random electronics, taking stuff apart and messing with it. He actually gets completely lost in a bubble when he's working passionately on something, lacking awareness and can get completely surprised by someone walking in (jumping out of surprise when touched)

However once you get closer to him, he will try to get past his "low social battery" and have fun with friends, joking around and enjoying their company.

Whether it is for silly things or serious situations, he will also put his skills to the table and do his best to live up to what's expected of him, maybe overthinking a bit much for his own good.

Background:

Childhood

His father was the mechanic of the family's farm estate, taking care of all the maintenance and repairs required, from small tools to heavy machinery. Matteo was already curious from a very young age, first watching his father at work, then helping out, and eventually taking care of tasks on his own. He would love taking apart stuff and inspecting the insides before putting it back together – hopefully not forgetting a bolt

This passion slowly shifted from farm equipment to electronics, as he would bring back old abandonned junk into the workshop to study it. Sometimes he would also borrow more recent, working devices to study them.

While Matteo's life wasn't a struggle by any mean – the farm allowing his family to live in relative comfort – he didn't want to repair tractors all his life. He always saw the same things and wanted something new to tinker with. Working hard on his studies he managed to secure an internship abroad, in an electronic shop in Japan.

Meeting his digimon

One night, while he was working late on some gimmicky electronic glasses that had just gotten his hands on, he heard some commotion in the alley behind the workshop. Because of the dark all he could assume was two dogs having a fight, and so he stayed out of it as not to get hurt himself. Once the noise died down, he grabbed a flashlight and headed outside to see the damage, and that's when he spotted a strange dark blue creature among the mess of junk and flipped over bins that the alley was now in. The creature jumped at him and Matteo fell backwards, dropping the flashlight and glasses he had forgotten to put down. He fell flat on his back, hitting his head and knocking him out for a while.

He regained consciousness in the workshop with a 5ft reptile-dog looking at him, who introduced themselves as Oiruz, a 'TeenGabumon'. Oiruz gave Matteo his glasses back, claiming that while he didn't mean to, they had been 'activated' during their encounter and that it made Matteo his 'tamer'. Matteo was extremely confused but too stunned to question the digimon.

The Arcadium

It took a while for Matteo to get used to the digimon's existence, and then having him around: Oiruz had followed him home one day, and on the spot decided to make Matteo's apartment into his own as well. Fortunately for both of them Matteo didn't get many visits, but Oiruz would prove a difficult household pet of sort, always up for mischief.

In fact, one day the 'mon was bored and decided to paint graffiti in various places of the city. He got spotted and tracked home by a tamer from the Arcadium, who started to lecture Matteo before realizing he wasn't part of the Arcadium (given Matteo was sort of panicking that people had found out about Oiruz)

Matteo was thus invited on the campus, but it took him a while to become a proper member: Matteo was naturally shy, his job was taking most of his time, and Oiruz having the poor habit of challenging people he newly met to fight didn't quite help his case.

These days Matteo is trying to balance his time with his job, training with Oiruz or helping out on the campus for when other members might need him. He still has much to learn about digimon and is always thankful when he finds time to study them, either on his own in the library or by having someone teach him.

Additional Information:

- Quickly overhelmed is noisy crowds, just thinking of a way to get out of the situation

- Almost always carries a bag of tools, to take apart stuff on the fly (before people notice him, hopefully)

- While he often isolate himself it doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy company. Some people might find it a bit surprising or cold though.

- He still lives in his apartment, but tries to visit the arcadium and socialize when he has free time

- Loves both dogs and reptiles, so Oiruz is a perfect match

- Sort of a pushover whenever Oiruz asserts his opinion, but he's working on his confidence

Personality:

Look do not deceive, and Oiruz is as much of a rebellious teen as his digimon name suggests.

He talks high and loud to make himself look bigger than he is. He's no small fry though, and will happily accept a challenge if he has the slightest chance of proving he can do it, his pride preventing him from backing down.

On the other hand, he's just as likely not to listen or do something just to spite people he's grumpy at.

He is often annoyed at Matteo's quietness/shyness and tries to shake his tamer out of it, with limited results, sometimes making it worse.

Additional info:

- As a TeenGabumon he is bigger than a normal Gabumon: about 150cm/5ft tall (when he stand up straight and doesn't slouch, that is)
He has actual fur on his back instead of a pelt. His belly remains scaley like his smaller counterpart.

- Not a sore loser, but he will harass for rematches

- He *loves* pizza

- He still hasn't told Matteo what brought him in the human world the night they met, keeping it secret for now.
