My first attempt at real cake decorating, although it's more of a practice piece. I had only been in cake class for a week or two when I made this.

It's a carrot-and-Brazil-nut cake I made belatedly for my mother's birthday in late January. The roses are softened cream cheese sweetened with honey. It's incredibly soft stuff to work with, especially when you're a beginner, but I managed pretty well, I think. There's no top layer of icing on the cake, the roses are just straight on top.
