The first sketch of an idea I've been having for about a year... I've been meaning to make a final print, probably an oil painting, of this, but haven't gotten around to it.

This image is meant to represent duality, yin & yang, black and white, whatever you want to call it.

The juxtaposition of the two sexes combined with the way in which their bodies echo each other is meant to represent how they work as a pair. There can be no light without dark, or any other cliche you might attach to this...

You might wonder why their lower halves are turning into ribbons... the idea is that where they touch, where they are connected, they are whole... but where they are apart, they disintegrate.

I am trying to express the importance of two different halves working together for the survival of the whole, whatever it may be.

eg. the human race would cease to exist if there was no contact between man and woman.... crass as that may be -_-
