obvious spoilers to my Warriors At Galaxy's End series, so read at your own risk!

info: Ascend and Descend are Metal Elementals that assist Nikki and Brandon respectively. they aid them by transforming into a variety of weapons at their disposal. their cry is that of the Pokemon Serperior's at a higher pitch, or the Baby Metroid from the Metroid series. I'm deciding whether their food is small metallic objects like nuts and screws (possibly an inspiration from the Pokémon Meltan) or none.

background: these Metal Elementals simply want to have a body, but they can only possess metallic objects due to their element. but they found the perfect body when Nikki and Brandon have received their special swords. upon inhabiting their new bodies, they became serpentine in appearance, with traits of the sword's decorative crossguards, as well as the sword's gem becoming their eye.

about Ascend: nicknamed "Ace", Ascend is a male Metal Elemental that accompanies Nikki. Ascend gained his body when he fused with Nikki's sword after she gained her wings.

about Descend: nicknamed "Dee Dee" or just "Dee", Descend is a female Metal Elemental that accompanies Brandon. Descend gained his body when he merged with Brandon's sword that was gifted by Nightmare Soul.

trivia:
Ascend and Descend is based on Pods 042 and 153 from Neir Automata, since 042 assists 2B (male assists female) and 153 assists 9S (female assists male).
Before they got their new forms, their old ones resemble the Kirby enemy/helper Plasma Wisp but without the hands.
both Ascend and Descend might be based on my Chinese zodiac element and animal: Metal and Snake.
Ascend's name means "go up or climb", while Descend's name means "move or fall downward". this could represent Nikki's angelic and Brandon's demonic representative to Heaven and Hell respectively.
