Life was great. Yes, for you in the TARDIS with your Doctor. You still couldn't believe he actually cared about you like you did him. Even after a few weeks of constant adventuring that only brought you closer. There was nothing you two didn't talk about now. As it were, after several days spent on a very hot and dank planet which was controlled by the Cybermen, and barely making it out with your lives, he decided that it would be prudent to have a few days off to heal. You both had sustained minor bruising and injuries from the metal men, you more so than him, and you two were now busy bandaging yourselves as the TARDIS drifted lazily through space.

You winced at some of the bruises on your left arm which were beginning to turn purple. They were large and sore, but then that's a given. After being slammed against the wall by a cyborg, one tends to retain some damage. You let out a pained hiss as you stitched up a large cut down on your forearm. The Doctor, it turns out wasn't to shabby a medic despite his claims of not being a medical doctor. He taught you how to stitch up wounds and the proper way to attach a splint to your own leg. You must have been looking a bit green because The Doctor strode over to you before even finishing his own bandaging.

"Are you alright?"

He asked curiously as he sat beside you. Your feet were hanging off the ledge that the controls sat on and you had your legs wrapped around each other tightly. Another sign that you were hurting.

"Yeah...just still not used to this."

You sighed as you finished off your stitching job. You looked as though you were about to be sick and held your stomach with your other hand.

"It still makes me nauseous."

The Doctor chuckled and grinned at you.

"Awwww...my little human! Doing your own stitches...You're finally growing up!"

He joked while fake crying. His glasses were on which made him look just that extra bit cuter. His goofy smile was one thing that was almost a constant at this point. At least when you were out of serious danger anyway. It made you happy that he was finally at peace.

"Listen you, we humans may be squeamish but we do what we have to when we have to!"

You laughed and nudged him in the ribs.

"Ahhh I know love. Why d'you think I keep you around?"

His grin turned all out toothy as he laughed with you. "love"...you still weren't used to that. It still made your face heat up every time he used it. He definitely knew it too, as sometimes he liked to torture you with it and deny knowing what you were talking about. Yes your relationship had certainly taken a huge step forward...but there was one thing you still hadn't done, that you really, REALLY wanted to do. Why had you not done it? There were a few things stopping you.

1. You had no idea how Time Lords worked, weather they were even...built...the same as humans.

2. You were so happy to even be with him that you didn't want to risk wrecking it in any way.

and of course 3...the most important. You didn't want to push him.

Considering the fuss he made about just admitting he cared for you, you definitely predicted he'd put up the same fuss if not more of one in this circumstance. As you continued to contemplate these matters he noticed your distant expression and poked you in the stomach.

"Eeey! You alive in there love?"

You snapped out of it and looked up at him. He wore his confused owl expression again.

"S-sorry! what did you say?"

He grumbled and sighed but smiled all the same.

"I was just explaining the inner workings of Zyranthios 10 compared to 11, and 9!"

You stared blankly.

"Wha?"

He shook his head and pulled his glasses off.

"The planets ____! Where we're going next?"

He was annoyed that you had stopped listening but he still wore a smirk. You shook your head and rubbed your eyes slowly.

"Sorry, sorry, I was just thinking..."

You finally began to bandage up the cut you stitched hoping to forget the whole thing as your face was still pink from thinking about your Doctor in provocative situations. The Doctor tilted his head. He knew something was on your mind but he couldn't figure out what.

"Well then, what should we do now? Time off you know! Vacation? Tropical paradises? ancient cities? killer surf?"

You yawned and stretched what little you could with your sore muscles.

"Couldn't we just stay in for once?"

His expression of excitement turned to that of boredom.

"Aw c'mon _____! There's so much to see! and it'll be vacation time I promise!"

You snorted. The poor man went stir crazy in a matter of seconds.

"Every time we try to take a vacation the Daleks invade or some sort of volcano irrupts...DON'T even get me started on Pompeii!"

You wag your finger at him and he laughs. He leaned back on his hand which was placed protectively behind your back. He had a habit of getting really close to you as of late. Weather it was out of wanting to be near you or a nervous habit of trying to keep you from disappearing on him you didn't know. After having so many companions either leave, die, or get taken away he was bound to have some sort of neuroses about it.

"Fine, fine...we'll stay in... but we'll have to busy ourselves some how. Other wise I'll simple explode."

He laughed and kissed you on the nose before standing up to find something to busy himself with. Your face became pink again at the imagery his words unintentionally inspired. 'Damn it Doctor...' you thought. 'Why do you have to be so...' you sighed laying back on the cold metal underneath you. You could hear The Doctor somewhere in the room fiddling with something. Probably fixing something he should have fixed months ago. Then a thought hit you. One of the reasons you didn't tempt fate with trying to take your relationship further was you didn't know how Time Lords worked in that sense...or really...at all.

"Doctor!"

You called to him to make sure he heard you. The room echoed and he might have been farther away than you could hear.

"Yyyyes?"

His voice was much closer than you had thought actually. You rolled over onto your stomach looking through the grate of the floor.

"How did you get down there?"

"The stairs of course!"

The fact that he had gone the opposite direction of the only stairs leading down there you knew of you shook your head and went back to topic.

"I have a question."

You watched him fiddle with wires, his glasses sitting back on his beautiful face. He didn't look at you as he waved a tiny light around in the darker corners of the collection of TARDIS guts.

"What's that then?"

He sounded vaguely distracted but he always listened to you no matter what he was doing.

"How do Time Lords...erm do it?"

He didn't react at all.

"Do what?"

You sighed. Of course he wouldn't get the hint.

"You know...do...IT."

He yelped suddenly as sparks flew everywhere.

"It? What? What is it??"

He sounded annoyed as he stuck his singed finger in his mouth.

"Alright?"

You asked him before continuing. He growled nodding not removing his fingers.

"Well, you know...uhm...make....babies?"

He stopped short. He was still for a few seconds before returning to what he was doing only at a much slower pace. He removed his finger from his mouth and spoke nervously.

"Well, much like humans actually."

Your face heated up at your next question.

"So then you have the same er...anatomy?"

He noticeably slowed his movements for a moment before recovering.

"Yes, externally anyway....where's all this coming from _____??"

He squinted into the dark and screwed something in somewhere that you couldn't make out.

"Wellll...."

You debated telling him the truth. That you secretly wanted to rip his clothes off and never leave his bedroom again.

"I just...was curious."

He knew there was more to it than that. He knew you. You only paused like that when you were lying, but he let it go.

"Oh alright then."

You sighed when he dropped the conversation. At least you knew it was in fact physically possible now. You finally stood up taking care to not put too much pressure on your mangled arm. You wandered down the stairs to the dark underbelly of the TARDIS where The Doctor was still fiddling with things. You wondered sometimes if he was doing more harm than good.

"Doctor....you love me right?"

The Doctor sighed deeply and didn't look at you.

"Didn't we already have this conversation?"

You roll your eyes at his avoidance.

"We've been travailing for some time now...over a year in fact and well, a LOT has happened in that time..."

"Indeed it has."

"Well...there's one thing that HASN'T happened yet..."

The Doctor's jaw was clenching again, the tell tale sign you learned that signified he was anxious.

"Where do you get these ideas from ______? Have you been watching romantic movies behind my back?"

You wanted to slap him for avoiding the topic. He was doing it again. Running away and hiding. You had thought for sure you cured him of that.

"Doctor..."

"Look, ______...can't you just be satisfied with how things are for a change? All this 'moving on' and 'next steps'...quite frankly I'm starting to get the impression you think you're in charge."

Even though he was kidding you were still annoyed.

"You're still scared! after all that's happened between us and all this time. You're STILL scared!"

He finally stopped what he was doing and turned to you. He looked at you seriously crossing his arms as if preparing for the oncoming argument that was about to ensue.

"You are doing EXACTLY the same thing you did in the closet...you're running and hiding from me like the universe will implode if you admit you have any sort of feelings for me!"

"I said it didn't I?!"

"ONCE! You said it ONCE! not since we were trapped in the closet!"

"Oh come on _____! Its pretty damn obvious isn't it?!"

"That doesn't mean you can't show me once in a while!"

He pinched the bridge of his nose and threw his hands in the air exasperated.

"I kiss you all the time! I take you amazing places! I share everything I have with you! We even snog occasionally when the mood strikes OR when you attack me like a hound dog! What more do you want form me?!"

You stared at him blankly.

"A hound dog?"

He sighed and waved his hands dismissively.

"Okay, okay not a hound dog...but you get what I mean!"

He crossed his arms again and looked at you with hopeful eyes trying to get you to drop the whole thing.

"What else can I possibly do?"

"The ONE and only thing we HAVEN'T done."

He stood in silence for a moment just staring at you he rocked back and forth on he feet slightly as if contemplating something serious.

"______...On Gallifrey...when a Time Lord mates...they mate for life, all of their lives, all of their faces. It's unbreakable. Something is shared between them that binds them forever to each other."

You smiled hopefully and took hold of his crossed arms.

"Great! That's perfect!"

He pulled out of your hands and placed his on your shoulders.

"That's why we take our time and choose very carefully. They have to be our absolute without doubt soul mate."

Your expression faded.

"...and you don't feel that about me..."

You concluded pulling away from him. Your _e/c_ eyes glistened with tears the were quickly forming. You went to the stairs and made your way back up. HE followed you.

"No! no..._____, I...I love you more than anything! You're my companion! I'll stake my life on anything for you as long as you're safe. I just...I don't know if it will work with a human."

You turned to him. Tears were falling but you smiled.

"Well...there's only one way to find out."

You ran your hand up his chest to his face and pulled him toward you. Your lips touched and he let he hands rest on your hips. You pulled back for a moment.

"Please Doctor...I've wanted this for so long..."

The Doctor felt his face heat up at your words. His grip on your hips tightened before he lifted you up bridal style and began walking to his room.

"Alright then...I suppose if you insist love."

You shared a cheeky smile before you appeared in his room which seemed much closer than you remembered.

"I do insist Doctor...more than anything."

With that you pulled him in for another kiss as he set you down on your feet.
