I came back to the painting throughout the day, I have a short attention span and kinda get mad/frustrated when painting if I don't take breaks a lot. I'm not sure how many hours, probably around 3-3.5.

I do use references usually, of course.. I see something I like and then I want to paint a variation of it, basically. It could be their proportions, the way their lips are chapped, the colour of their hair - their pose, the lighting, maybe just the overall feel of them - literally just anything I see and think looks nice/interesting, no real determining factor. I usually focus on the thing I favour in the reference and just change the things around it/make things more attractive to me. 

The thing around the teeth is called a smiley, it's just a piercing I like, haha. I don't have one :3
