Description
Project Phellus is an attempt to create fictional nations - or superstates - based on the major cultures on Earth.

In this case, an alternative history whose point of divergence is not one, but several, and which are located during the Second World War. Would:

- The German victory in the Battle of Britain, and the flight of the Royal Family and the British government to Canada in 1940.
- The Japanese decision not to attack Pearl Harbor in late 1941, causing the United States to focus on the European theater.
- The union of Australia and New Zealand, which after the exile of the British government and the royal family to Canada, and the American isolationism, were left alone in the Pacific theater against Japan.
- The conquest of the Soviet Union by the Germans in 1942, causing the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the disappearance of Stalin and high command of the communist party.
- The emergence of the Russian insurrection, which would seek to expel the Germans, and shortly after founding the Russian Republic.
- The decision of the United States and Great Britain to request help from Latin America, Spain and Portugal to defeat the Germans and Italians, initiating the Buenos Aires Accords.
- Operation D-Day in 1944, in addition to being carried out in France, also began in the Iberian Peninsula with Ibero-American troops.
- The defeat of the Germans thanks to the Anglo-American advance in the west, Latin American in the south, and Russian in the west.
- The division of Italy after the fall of Mussolini.
- The peace treaty signed with Japan in 1945 after a demonstration of the atomic bomb on the Japanese Imperial Fleet -and not on Hiroshima and Nagasaki-, ending the Second World War.
- The final dissolution of the British Empire after the independence of India and the Austro-Zeeland Union in 1947, and its inability to maintain its African colonies for long time.

By 1960, and with the start of numerous civil liberties movements throughout the world and the consolidation of eight super-states, the United Nations Organization was transformed into the World Congress, based in New York.

Currently the eight superstates are well-established democracies, albeit with certain flaws. Communism, fascism and religious fundamentalism - powerless in any country and reduced to mere marginalized guerrilla groups - have been banned since 1945, and continue to be fought around the world. European royal families have lost all political power, being reduced to mere members of the aristocracy with certain privileges legally guaranteed by the constitution of certain superstates.

Five of the eight superstates - North Atlantic, Pan-Iberia, Europe, the Greater Japan Empire, and India - possess nuclear weapons, and all eight possess space programs that cooperate in space exploration and in the construction of the first lunar bases and the first space colony.

The territory of Palestine is controlled by an International Mission of the World Congress, with the participation of the Vatican.

Some territorial conflicts between the super-states are: pressure from the Philippines and Indonesia to leave the Japanese Empire and join Pan-Iberia and the United Kingdoms of Islam respectively; and the wishes of Liberia, Angola and Bechuanaland to separate from the African Confederation and join the North Atlantic, Pan-Iberia and Oceania respectively.
