Length: 1 meter (3.3 feet) long, 1.2 to 1.45 meters (4 to 4.6 feet) wingspan

Diet: Carnivore

This huge-headed pterosaur swooped and soared around Europe's coastlines in the Late Jurassic. It had the wingspan of a large seagull and a high-beaked outsize skull like a puffin's but its two kinds of teeth - fangs at the front, grinding pegs at the back - suggest a diet of insects, small animals and carrion rather than wriggly fish.

On land it was probably a quadruped, as other pterosaurs' fossilised trackways reveal them to have crawled on all fours. Mary Anning discovered the first known British pterosaur fossil in the Blue Lias cliffs near Lyme Regis in 1828 but this fossil was missing the animal's distinctive skull. A year later William Buckland named it Pterodactylus macronyx‭ but in 1858, after the discovery of a complete Dimorphodon fossil, Richard Owen granted the present genus name while retaining the species name that describes the large claws on its lands. It would have used them for climbing up steep surfaces to heights from which it could leap off and fly.

You know, in many of the shots the Dimorphodon looks angry. Does he have anger issues or something?
