The young blacksmith may be looking somewhat intimidating, but in fact fas quite shy and clunpsy with words, when it comes to romance. Though, their attraction was mutual, so they both got what they wanted to.
Astrid and Mikkel were beginning to think about further life together, when the guy was accused of grain smuggling and thrown to prison.
After he was released, he came out to have been crippled in prison, so he was not able to hold a hammer. When jarl Olaf exiled him from town, Mikkel left, never to see Astrid anymore.
