Description

A sad story of course - in 1968 the mine at Dörnten was closed down and this was the last wagon they brought up to daylight.

It was unloaded here using this special device we call "Kreisel-Lader" down here in Germany, perhaps you understand what "gyro-unloader" may be. The wagon is turned upside down and the ore is falling downwards into another (bigger) wagon, running on rails of some "main line" one level below. Fast and easy unloading There were many mining places interconnected under ground, and the transport was 600mm nearrow gauge from the place, where the ore was extracted, to this "sampler" with bigger wagons on 780mm - in fact the Schroeder Stollen, interconnecting some mines together and leading to the mouth hole, some kind of "collector" underground. The small wagons we call "Hunt" or "Hund" (dogs?) here in Germany.
