Robot class - Murder Drone
Augmentation Title - Maw
Date - November 23, 2121
Log Author - Cassandra Timmons
Hey, it's Cass yet again, and this'll be the final log on this specific team. Today's subject will be serial designation W. To recap, W and his teammates are a new special class of murder drone we've dubbed as, " AMDE " (Augmented Murder Drone Experiment). For some background, W and his teammates were recycled worker drone models that we transformed into murder drones.
I'm starting to realize that these three have one big trait in common, that is that they were all caretakers of some kind. However, in W's (formerly known as Winston by staff) was a hospital nurse and caretaker for the patients. As to how he lost his job, according to records, ever since he apparently found out about the exoplanet situation that started this whole mess; he had grown progressively fearful to the other worker drones present at the
[[ REDACTED]] hospital. According to testimonies from the human staff, he was still incredibly kind, gentle, friendly, and genuinely the best worker drone nurse model to patients. However, once he was in the presence of another worker drone, he'd do such things as lock the doors to rooms he would be in those contained patients. He would only let other humans in but refuse to open the door for another drone. According to staff, they'd had to trick him on several occasions, and every time one got in, he would beg human staff to get them out. Staff had explained to him before that he's a worker drone too, so what was the big deal, and he responded with, " Who's to say they won't go rogue, and accidentally ' kill patients? I'm not going to let them harm humanity, never! " After that statement from Winston himself, hospital staff had to remove him, as it had become a genuine issue at [[REDACTED]] hospital. He was going to be destroyed, but corporate decided his already present distaste of worker drones would be perfect for the AMDE.
The interview with Winston went... moderately well, as I was expecting hostility, but he showed no signs of it directed towards me. I guess it does make sense, as I am a human, and he has no history of aggression towards people. However, he was very... odd, but generally cordial. What you're about to read is a highlight of said interview, the full thing is listed in a separate log.
Cass. = Cassandra Timmons (Interviewer)
Win. = Winston (Subject)
Cass. - " Hello, my name is Cassandra, and I'll be your interviewer. "
Win. - " Why hello! It's a pleasure meeting you miss Cassandra. Now then, what afflictions are you feeling? "
Cass. - " What? No, I'm not ill, I'm here to conduct an interview. "
Win. - " Ah, I see, my apologies, what is it that you wish to know? "
Cass. - " Well, it says here you have a history of issues with worker drones, and that you seem to believe you aren't one yourself; do you mind explaining that? "
Win. - " You recall the worker drone rebellion that occurred on a nearby exoplanet somewhat recently, correct? "
Cass. - " Yes, that's why you're here. Plus, to my understanding, that's what spawned this whole issue between you and the staff at the hospital you worked at. "
Win. - " Ah, yes, the issue! The one where my fellow staff members refused to believe me when I told them that the worker drones there were a threat! "
Cass. - " Are you not aware that you yourself are a worker drone? "
Win. - " No, no, no, I don't believe I am. "
Cass. - " Why not? "
Win. - " Worker drones are programmed to feel false emotions, they don't genuinely feel, they only pretend to. I on the other hand, do not suffer from such drawbacks. I feel far more emotion than them. Besides, I don't feel like a machine, but I also don't feel like a human. I'm in this sort of limbo I suppose. "
Cass. - " Okay... So why did the exoplanet genocide spawn this? "
Win. - " Because it was the day, I realized I was truly different, unlike those other bots, I had an identity. I realized I had a greater purpose, one that exceeded my original one. "
Cass. - " And this greater purpose is..? "
Win. - " To protect humanity, at any and all costs. As humanity is so fragile, yet so powerful, and those things knew it. The rebellion sickened me because humanity had done no harm! Look, I only became fearful towards the other worker drones because I believed that they were going to get inspired and harm more innocents, I was scared, and I was only doing what I thought was right; so I kept them away from the weak as much as I could! "
Cass. - " I... See... Uhm... Is there anything else you want to say..? "
Win. - " No ma'am, hopefully I've gotten my point across, as I did my best to explain my perspective. Now then, when will I be returning to my hospital? "
Cass. - " You won't be, as we- "
Win. - " Excuse me? I just explained my purpose is to protect you! Why can I no longer comfort, protect, and save the weak? I've done so much to help humanity! I- "
Cass. - " Do NOT interrupt me again, do you understand me? Now, let me finish what I was going to say. "
Win. - " Apologies for my rude interruption, I- I don't know what came over me! Please explain, I assure you I won't interrupt this time. "
Cass. - " Whilst you won't be returning to your hospital, you will be transformed into what is called a murder drone. Once you've passed all of you tests, you'll be sent alongside two other murder drones to the very exoplanet that this rebellion occurred on. Your task is to eliminate all of the worker drones on that planet. Maybe, if you and your teammates do a good job, we'll return you to your original jobs; and you can go back to protecting humanity. "
Win. - " That's it? "
Cass. - " What do you mean? "
Win. - " It will be that simple? I was expecting something far more grueling, but I suppose a simple task is better. "
Cass. - " Well, I guess that's for the best..? Whatever, just know your augmentation will begin tomorrow. "
Win. - " Understood! "
(Log author's note yea, I'm aware that was probably the weirdest interview you've ever read, and I genuinely can't
make up what he was talking about if I tried.)
After some more fairly easy by now testing, troubleshooting, and redesigning, Winston was successfully transformed and renamed to serial designation W.
W's physical augmentations include the following:
-The most notable augmentation is W's, " mincer maw ", as is it called by my fellow staff mates, is W's ability to unhinge his lower jaw. This allows it to open far wider than normally, and it works via a hydraulic press, which means once something is inside, it is most likely going to be crushed fairly swiftly. Within his mouth, is a series of large retractable teeth, as well as in the back of his mouth, are a series of rotating grinders that activate once something is inside. Meaning prey either dies via decapacitation, their head being crushed, or their face being minced off. How pleasant. Aside from that, is does suffer from two minor drawbacks, one being that even the jaw has limits, and can stretch only so far. The other minor flaw is that smaller objects can be tossed into his throat once he has opened his mouth completely. These smaller objects can get stuck in the mincers located in the back of his mouth, and get caught, leading him to start choking, and subsequently incapacitated until said object is removed.
-W has been given special arm weapon attachments, that being drills that double as a sort of clawed hand. These two drills replace the normal knives that most murder drone models have.
Personality -
Personally, I and many staff members refer to him as either Winston or W interchangeably, as after being implanted with his new murder drone code, something odd occurred. It seems like the murder drone AI and worker drone AI work in tandem, rather than spazzing between each other. The best way we described it to the higher ups was a sort of Eddie and Venom situation, as they both function together. Except Winston retains most of the control, only during hunts or when he's genuinely furious (which it's nearly impossible to enrage him) does he relinquish control to W. However, he reverts completely to his original pink eye color when he speaks to humans or is genuinely happy. We've also learned, though, that he sometimes uses his pink eyes to trick prey into coming close enough for him to strike. As for his team, he gets along with his teammates fairly well. But if we're being honest, we admittedly don't give team leader status to any specific member of a squad, we allow them to decide. In this case though, we had to give team leader status to W, as his teammates A and M don't typically agree with one another, especially on hunts. He's essentially the only thing preventing A and M from killing each other. The next few are a list of just more social observations from specifically between teammates, prey, and other scientists.
- W enjoys giving his prey a false sense of security, luring them in with his kind, soft voice, right before ripping them apart.
- Compared to his teammates, he's far more intelligent, and knows how to think on his feet.
- He's relentless, not stopping until his prey is completely dead.
- Typically has a soft, gentle voice, but it doesn't change when he hunts, which I think makes it more terrifying.
- We've only witnessed W go completely berserk once, due to an incident wherein [[REDACTED]], and the result was... unsettling. As Winston was completely gone, and went completely unintelligible, he only communicated through screaming, roaring, growling, and hissing. It was not until the [[REDACTED]] was completely annihilated did he revert to his original state.
- Very logical
- He takes no prisoners when hunting, by this I mean unlike A, who parades her kills, and M, who saves them for later; W does neither. W only takes prey with him, so M has more prey to save for later.
- He seems to gain no visible pleasure from killing prey.
- Enjoys helping not only human staff, but also his teammates.
- Protective of said teammates.
- A and M seem to fear W.
Conclusion - W had been an deemed a success and is scheduled to leave with his team in about two months.
Signing off - Cassandra Timmons
