Description Part 1: Getting to know him

As light poured into the darken hallways of the cavern, a fox-like creature darted into the room.  As he ran, Eevee’s only thought was to get away from the pokémon that were chasing him.  So far, his attempt to explore the newly found caverns had lead to his being chased by a pack of houndours who were, somehow, a lot stronger than him.  They’d wiped out the rest of his chosen team already.  He was all that was left.
“Gotta get these guys off my tail.” Eevee thought as he panted, “I can’t be taken down like this!”
A sudden growling made him look up.  Eevee’s ears flattened against his head as he growled in reply to the four houndour who now blocked his only escape.  He knew he’d only get one shot to take all four of them down before they unleashed a hell storm of flame.  The one attack that he hated to use, but often had no choice but to.
“HYPER BEAM!” Eevee cried out.
As energy swirled down into the pokémon’s mouth, Eevee let loose a powerful blast.  The golden beam collided with two of the houndour.  The two were flung back by the power of the attack and into the opposite wall.  Eevee collapsed onto the floor; the after effects of the hyper beam were already taking effect.  The remaining two houndour looked at their fallen comrades, then at the collapsed eevee.  The hyper beam attack had drawn out the last bit of strength he’d had in him.
The houndour closed in on him, growling, flaming at the mouths.  Eevee looked up at them, hoping to find what little strength he had left to fight them off.  Instead, another bright flash went off as a sound like a gunshot came from his left.  Eevee was blinded and deafened for a few seconds.  Struggling to escape the remaining houndour, he crawled towards the sound.  As his eye sight returned, he saw that another pokémon had teleported in.  Someone that the eevee hadn’t expected to rescue him.
An unseen force threw the two remaining houndour back into a wall.  A psychic blast!
“Who the-?” Eevee wondered, then he realized who his savior was, “Mewtwo?!”
“Yes, Eevee.” The pokémon replied, looking at the eevee with distain, “You can’t seem to stay out of trouble can you?  And to make things worse, you’re on your last hyper beam.”
Eevee ran a mental check through his count of attacks.  Mewtwo was right.
“How’d you know that?” Eevee asked as Mewtwo took a small, round object from his pack.
“Eevee, you often seem to forget the extent of my power.” Mewtwo replied laying the orb on the ground between them, “I can read your power levels to assess just how much of a threat you are.  From what I’m reading from you now, you’ve weakened considerably.”
Eevee collapsed again, too tired to move his battered body.
“Not to mention that you’ve lost a lot of your strength.  It would be best to leave here for now.  Shall I use the escape orb?” Mewtwo asked.
“Knock yourself out.” Eevee replied tiredly.
“I’d rather not.” Mewtwo replied as the orb began to spin.
Light poured out of the escape orb as it spun faster and faster.  Eevee felt the familiar feeling of being tugged into the orb.  He let the feeling take him as the room swirled and faded away into darkness.
When Eevee opened his eyes, he found that he was lying on a comfortable couch.  The waning light of a sunset was gently spilling into the room from a near by window, casting a spell of calm over the circular room.  He was back in the rescue team base!  As the eevee glanced around he saw his best friend and partner pacing nearby.
“Hey Charmander.” Eevee called to the pacing pokémon.
“EEVEE!” Charmander cried as he hugged his friend, “You’re OK!”
“I could be better,” Eevee replied, “but I’m alive.  How’d you guys know I was in danger?”
“Latias managed to use an escape orb before she blacked out with Absol.” Charmander replied as a red and white pokémon floated into the room, “She almost gave me a heart attack when they warped back here.  When they regained consciousness shortly after I managed to get a revive seed down their throats, Latias told us that you were alone in there.”
Eevee looked up at the bird-like Pokémon and said, “Thanks Latias.  You probably saved my life.”
Latias smiled happily and replied, “Hey, you saved my life first when I was pinned down by the meteor piece back in the Pitfall dungeon.  I could have died down there, but you and Charmander saved my life with that teleport gem.  I owed you my life Eevee.”
“So I guess you’re debt’s been paid off now.” Charmander said, “But you’ll stay with the team right?”
“Of course I will.” Latias smiled, “After all, me and my brother, Latios, will never be able to repay you for what you did to help us.”
“Hey Charm?” Eevee asked, “Do we have any white gummies left?  I could use one.”
“Let me go check.” Charmander replied, “Good to see you’re still alive buddy.”
“Thanks Charm.” Eevee smiled, tail wagging.
As Charmander left the room, Latias hugged Eevee tightly.  Eevee nuzzled her neck gently and licked her cheek.  Latias gave a small, but happy, giggle and stroked him gently as Eevee smiled tiredly up at Latias.  She returned the smile and nuzzled him again, feeling his warm fur against her cheek.
For the past two months, the two pokémon had been in love.  For now, it was a quiet affection between Eevee and Latias, only really showing when the two pokémon thought they were alone together.  Even Latios didn’t know about the two.  The only one who did was Charmander after he had found the two nuzzling.  He had promised not to tell Latios or the others about it until the two felt ready to let the news of their relationship out.
“I’m glad you’re alright.” Eevee said softly as Latias set him back down.
“I’m just glad that Mewtwo got to you in time.” Latias replied, “I was so scared that he’d be too late.”
“Well, he came at just the right time.” Eevee said tiredly as he laid back down on the floor, “And, you know that I care about you, right Latias?”
Latias nodded and pet Eevee gently, “I know you do.  Just as much as you know that I care for you.”
“Sorry Eevee, we’re out of the white gummies.” Charmander said as he walked back in, “But I can look for them on the next mission.  We got a distress letter from a growlithe who’s stuck up near the top of Mount Freeze.”
“Mount Freeze?” Eevee asked worriedly as a bad memory passed through his mind.
“Don’t worry.” Charmander replied, “It’s really unlikely that we’ll run into Ninetails again.”
“So who’s going on this one?” Latias asked, “And better yet, when?”
“Tomorrow morning.” Charmander replied, “I’m taking Nidoqueen and Blaziken with me on this one.  I figure they could use the training in that harsh weather.”
“Ok, sounds like a good idea Charm.” Eevee yawned as he stood up, “Right now, I’ve got to get some rest.”
As Charmander began to reply, the lack of energy and a sudden loss of will power caused Eevee to collapse.  Charmander ran to his friends’ side and saw that Eevee had fallen fast asleep.
Charmander smiled in relief, “He really was exhausted.”
Latias picked up Eevee’s limp form and said, “I’ll put him to bed.  Charmander, be careful OK?”
“Don’t worry Latias.” Charmander replied, “I’ve been through a lot of dungeons like this one lately.  We’ll be fine.  All I have to do is brief those two ladies tonight and have them prepared by morning.”
Latias smiled and carried the sleeping eevee out.
After laying Eevee to rest on a soft bed of straw that he usually slept on and kissing his cheek, Latias followed her brother to the place the two called home.  A small island off the coast of the mainland.  The Southern Island.  It was here that Eevee and Charmander had picked out as a good friend area for the two.
As Latias laid down on the cool grass, she looked up at the night sky.  The stars above her twinkled like diamonds as the full moon shone down upon her and her brother.  But Latias had feeling that not all was as it seemed.
Latias took off into the night skies, hoping the cool air would help her ease her mind.  As she flew, she looked down over Pokémon Square.  The shops were closed for the night and the small town seemed peaceful.  As she continued on, the post office was still active.  Pelipper were flying to and from it, carrying letters and other goods.  Latias smiled to herself as she turned and began her trip back the island.  She felt a little better after seeing how peaceful things were, but she was all to aware that things still weren’t always as they seemed.
The next morning, Eevee woke up without any recollection of how he’d gotten to bed.  Last thing he remembered was talking to Charmander about a rescue job.  As he stretched, he found a note at the side of his bed.  It was in Charmander’s handwriting.
“I figured you’d still be asleep when I came by.” It read, “So, I just wanted to tell you to come by my place when you get up.  I’ve had to change up the mission today.  Absol’s leading it now.  She’s the only one we know who can navigate that terrain without any trouble.  I would have led it like I said I was going to, but Mewtwo says he’s got something that’ll change rescue jobs as we know it.  I don’t know what he means, but he said for us to meet him in the Cryptic Caves.  I have a bad feeling we’re about to be test subjects.
~Charm”
Eevee read it again to be sure he’d read it right the first time and then slipped on a red neckerchief with the team’s symbol and badge pinned on.  As he did, the eevee wondered what Mewtwo could have possibly done to change rescue jobs.
After Eevee had met up with Charmander, the two walked to the caverns where Mewtwo called home.  A place that could easily be used to exert amazing psychic force without anyone detecting it.  A perfect place for Mewtwo to live, train, and now experiment.
“So, did you learn anything about what we’re going to see?” Eevee asked as the two walked up to the entrance to the cave.
“Not a thing.” Charmander replied, “You know how secretive that pokémon is.  I have no idea what he was talking about.”
Eevee sighed as they walked into the caves, “Great.  Let’s just hope nothing bad happens.”
As they walked in, Eevee and Charmander were both surprised to find that Mewtwo wasn’t alone.  Instead, Alakazam and Xatu were with him.  But what really surprised Eevee was that Mewtwo was wearing some sort of armor.  Judging by the way Alakazam kept glancing over to it, Eevee guessed that the armor was able to push Mewtwo’s power to its limits.  Eevee had seen this on his first encounter with the pokémon.   Mewtwo and Eevee had faced off deep inside the western Caves before Eevee had convinced Mewtwo to join the Nexus team.  The battle was a short one with Eevee finishing it with a powerful Hyper Beam blast.
Alakazam on the other hand was already the leader of another rescue team.  With his partners Charizard and Tyranitar, his team had been the first one Eevee and Charmander had teamed up with to save a pokémon from the wrath of the legendary pokémon of lightning, Zapdos.  Not to mention the ones who had chased down and fought Eevee, Charmander, and Absol when they had been searching for Ninetails to clear Eevee’s name from the legend that had caused the two of them to become fugitives.
Xatu was the one both Eevee and Charmander had found the most surprising to be here.  Xatu was a wise pokémon who often stared into the sun for hours.  He was still one of the oddest pokémon that Eevee had ever met.
The three of them together could only mean one thing.  That something big was about to happen.
“Ah, you two are just in time.” Alakazam said as the two walked into the large room.
“Just in time for what?” Charmander asked.
“To watch a new idea become a reality.” Mewtwo replied distractedly, “We mustn’t lose focus here.  If the slightest thing goes wrong we could cause more trouble than anyone would like to see.”
“Here it comes, protect your eyes and ears.” Alakazam commanded.
Eevee and Charmander looked at each other in confusion, but did what he said.  Then, the room was filled with a sudden and bright flash of light followed by a sound like a cannon being fired.  When the light faded and he could hear again, Eevee couldn’t believe what he was seeing.  In front of them was a shimmering pool of light and energy.  As it’s silvery colors swirled to a center point, Mewtwo took off his helmet and looked down at the two wide-eyed Pokémon.
“This,” he said walking over to a stone bench, “is what we have been working on tirelessly.  A portal that can take a rescue team to any location specified.”
Charmander walked up to it and looked it over with awe.
“The only trouble is that we don’t know the extent of the power we’ve given into it.” Xatu said, “For all we know, it could lead to another world entirely!”
“As unlikely as that may seem,” Mewtwo said, casting a glare over to the bird, “With some of the upgrades I’ve made to my power armor we do not truly no exactly what it has the power to do.  It’s still highly unstable.”
Mewtwo glared at everyone so it didn’t faze Xatu in the least.
“So, why show us if it’s not stable?” Eevee asked as Charmander continued to stare at the portal, “And Charm, you’re going to hurt yourself doing that some day.”
“Relax Eevee.” Charmander replied walking back over to him, “I’m sure that these three know what they’re doing, right?”
“As much as one can know about these things.” Alakazam said, “But Mewtwo is quite right.  This portal is still highly unstable.  Right now, we do not know where it leads.”
“And that’s why we’re here right?” Eevee asked, “I’ll guess that you want me and Charm to go through it and see where it leads.”
“You two are the most qualified of leaders here.” Alakazam replied smugly, “I would test it, but I am needed to keep it active.
Eevee sighed and shook his head.  Once again, he and Charmander were being asked to do something that they both knew they had no choice but to do.
“Come on Eevee, what’d you say?” Charmander asked happily, “We haven’t done anything this exciting in a long time.”
Eevee looked to his friend and sighed again, “Alright, what do we do and how do we do it?”
Charmander hugged his friend with excitement.  Alakazam smiled and looked to Mewtwo and Xatu.  Mewtwo nodded and picked up something off of his workbench.
“This will allow us to keep in contact with you after you exit the portal on the other end.” Mewtwo explained as he clipped a small earphone and microphone to Eevee’s left ear, “This way we can advise on your next move depending on where you come out.”
“Got it.” Eevee replied, “But what if Xatu is right?  Say this thing does really take us into another world?”
“Then we shall have to improvise.” Alakazam said, “Now stop your worrying Eevee.  Knowing that both of you adapt quickly to new situations, you will be fine.”
“Plus, I’ll be there too Eevee.” Charmander said, “No matter what happens we’re a team.  We always have been and always will be!”
Eevee looked at his friend with a smile, knowing that no matter what the odds were against them, Charmander would always be there for him.  Like two astronauts boarding the space shuttle, the two faced the glistening portal and walked towards it with determination in their eyes.
They stepped into the portal, testing it to see what it would do.  Nothing happened, so the two continued to walk into it.  Once they were almost all the way in, the portal began to pull them through.  Eevee let the feeling take him over, just as he would with an escape orb.  He just hoped that this thing would do as the three psychic pokémon said it would.  Neither of them was aware of just what they would be getting into on the other side.

Good story. What you could do is have flashbacks within the future chapters to let us know the background of the characters. Awesome job, keep up the good work.

Thanks. Yeah, there are previous stories to the cast. Maybe I'll write some up for them once this is done.

sounds awesome man! I'll admit you've come up with a very interesting cast of characters and a good strong plot for the story. However, I get the impression that the characters have had previous adventures that we know nothing about since all the characters seen to have past stories with each other, so it can be a bit confusing at times (I also find it hard to believe Evee could defeat Mewtwo in one on one battle, lol). A good start though, good luck with your future chpts (:
