... sometimes you have to be strong enough for a clichΓ©

did you notice which camera did this ?

...you mean you've gradiated up from the 50D ----congrtrats ! ---you're a full framer ! ( hope you'll still talk to me )

yes. and thanks. it was mainly the EF-S 15-85 mm which was driving me crazy to be honest.
but i shall still use the old one with the tele lens !

...yes - when I purchased my 60DΒ  ( when it's price dropped to it's lowest point just before the 70D arrived ) - it was offered with the EF-S 15-85mm - which I didn't like - ( it's looks ,feel - and I think it was supposed to have some complex barrel distortion at the widest end ) - so I bought the 50mm 1.8 with it ( cheap little piece of plastic - but very good optically ) -------anyway - you're full frame now ! ( congrats ! ) --- and I do know that full frame cameras demand good lenses -- what are you feeding it ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EintoeRn In reply to DouglasHumphries [2013-08-28 16:38:58 +0000 UTC]

indeed. distortion is terrible in the wide angle range. also chromatic aberration.
now it is replaced by the 24 - 105 mm EF lens which makes a good impression so far.
look at the hay bales.
so far it was only one weekend of shooting so far. hope to find a little bit more time soon ...

. . . yes - I wondered why Canon would put out such a lens as a kit lens --- the new full frame lens must be quite an improvement ! ---- I did handle a 6D - and everything felt so smooth - quick, silent focusing ( a very fine machine ) -- great camera - esp for landscapes .

Β now - I was wondering how far you usually range in your photo taking - being in Europe - the distances to other countries are so much shorter than in my neck of the woods ....... you always seem to find great material - and your high standard of showing us excellent quality photos never wavers - you are always on top of your game .

quite a number of fine compliments. thank you sincerely for that, douglas.
and yes. the camera "feels" really good, the 50D seems clumsy in comparison. but it is fine for the 70-200 and keeps me from changing lenses when i am "in the mood".
that was quite convenient when i tried it the other weekend.
as i avoid air travel for a few years already now, it is more or less those parts which i can reach within a maximum of like 12 hours driving distance.
i'd love to go further but this will not be possible before my lottery win
all to far for a one or two week vacation, especially when traveling alone ...

Β  Bales and sky that go on forever.Β  Very nice!Β  And I really like the trails above the break in the clouds, especially the strange one that looks like it's bent at 90 degrees.

And the most suprising thing is that you can find such a wide land and sky in Europe
The trails in the sky, of course and however, are manmade

Thank you, dear. Indeed. I always think of art installations myself
And there is little time to do these, as - of course - the farmers hurry to pick them up and get them dry and safe into their barns !

yes. certainly not a completely new theme. but i always liked these "land art installations".
b+w was a must here to avoid a too postcardish appearance
