Who knew such a thing was possible?

Certainly not me! And I have seen men of our age even behaving like being 10, when it comes to emoticons

Maybe I would have to get even older to get THAT young
Just learned from my former landlady, that one of my June contributions has been published by the newspaper a couple of days ago. They didn't tell me, they didn't send me an email (they don't even send you any confirmation when you mail them the pictures) - this is a bit annoying.
But on the other hand, well, nice. She also said that it was also printed quite big, like 2 hands. And it will be published in a book at the end of 12 months

Hey! Congratulations, Ulrich, that is terrific! It is so funny that they don't even tell you, it's like the picture goes off into a black box, maybe it comes out again, maybe it doesn't. But yours is coming out! Is it a picture that is posted here at dA? Does the newspaper have an online edition?

Thanks a lot, Richard. Maybe I have indeed learned a little bit about photography in the past 2 or 3 years
No, not at dA - I shall send a little email, as the on-line presentation at the county homepage does not work as well (it only shows the 1st of 12 pictures which have been chosen - but maybe they are going to fix it ) It also is vey, very small

Well, it is pretty conventional, but it is for a newspaper. My 2 other contributions are a bit more extravagant
And I also have to stick the county

Three cheers for extravagance!

You have to "stick the county" - uh - not following you - stick TO the county for photo subject?

"to stick" is an American idiom for taking advantage of someone - sticking someone with the bill at dinner, for example - so sticking the county threw me for a moment

Wow! If the critters were having a grand opening, these would be their kleig lights, flashing neon into the sky.

Oh, yes! Kleig lights are the old term for stage lights and lights that were rolled to the street and flashed upward, making these big inviting beams in the sky. All very red carpet Hollywood!

I have always been a reader so words just stick to me. The funny thing is that I can't pronounce some of the words I know because I don't speak them aloud, usually.

Pronunciation is a REAL BIG problem with the English language. I am glad that it is not only for stupid foreigners
