Thank you, dear. As you see, I am still sitting at the freezer, though the dish-washer as finished by now
I cannot realize about the DD. Very strange. May first one was 2 years ago, also early September, when I was sitting in this little blue doll house in Auvergne

hey, a DD! congrats, dear

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EintoeRn In reply to partiallyHere [2011-09-06 11:30:35 +0000 UTC]

thank you so much, dearest friend.
you see me in dieppe, the computer in the kitchen sitting on top of the freezer, with a nasty throat and ear infection.
finally, everything has been arranged to pick up a prescription for the right anti-bugs in the afternoon. so maybe after the siesta (!!!!) everything will be fine in the end. so far this little holiday trip was more like a disaster.
in the kitchen - and only when listening to the dish washer - i have a free internet connection
there is a lebanese restaurant across the port. what should i try, if i dare???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

partiallyHere In reply to EintoeRn [2011-09-06 11:54:39 +0000 UTC]

oh, sorry to hear you're so sick. and bad connection on top of this.
lol at the kitchen, i've experienced that in some places (in the balcony in december for exapmle)

hmm, let me think, the traditional way is to start with apetizers, called the Meza. it's an assortment of many small dishes, tabboule and hommous are the most lebanese plates, and a choice of others..
if you feel sick and need a soup, i'd recommand my favorrite, the lentil soup. and in the end, also traditionally, an assortment of grilled meat.

but there are other ways, like you do in europe, starters, main dish and dessert. they will probably have this option.

if they have internet, ask me form there

every time i went to a lebanese restaurant when i was traveling, i was disappointed, it is never lebanese, it is always a hybrid, the taste is adapted to the local taste.

good luck, and fast recovery

thank you dear. got me the (hopefully) right antibiotics this afternoon.
on the way to the doctor i have passed the libanese restaurant. it seems that is will re-open on September 16th, which is too late for me this time.
and of course, cuisine always is a hybrid. i can tell you from visiting italian restaurants in many parts of this globe scandinavia and netherlands a VERY special when it comes to this. and here in france i once had a pizza with green beans (!!!). i thought that was unique, too
meze the best i have ever had was in famagusta - and this is not all too far from lebanon

partiallyHere In reply to EintoeRn [2011-09-07 10:51:56 +0000 UTC]

too bad. lets hope one day you can taste "real" lebanese cuisine when coming to visit us here (good idea, but lets wait for calmer times)
good luck with the antibiotics

Hi back, Alexandra
most awful architecture of the 70ies gets a second of light at sunset

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

S4SH4X In reply to EintoeRn [2011-08-16 13:46:52 +0000 UTC]

Light changes everything. And seen through your lens, even the boring 70's architecture looks beautiful.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EintoeRn In reply to S4SH4X [2011-08-16 14:19:50 +0000 UTC]

But indeed, in the end photography is all about light. When you look at my recent up-loads they suffer a lot by digital enhancement. The real light was so dull, dark and grey that there were no contrasts at all. Thin overcast with soft shadows is best for these sort of photographs. But when there is hardly any light even in the middle of the day - this is called summer of 2011
