I recall, as a child, being fascinated by the test patterns in the early days of television (at least in my part of the world). There were little knobs at the back of the set to adjust various settings, including (theoretically) vertical and horizontal hold - using the test pattern as a guide. If that era was fractal, perhaps the test patterns would have looked more like this, my second submission to the UltraFractal Redux Dec/Jan Challenge.
