he's half gardevoir half human, well his mind was melted into a gardevoir's during a team rocket experiment that was forced on them, they managed to separate but left both of them with parts of the other, charcoal is mostly human and lucas is mostly gardevoir:3

well I mean lucas is the gardevoir that charcoal is linked to, they are mostly separate but they can still feel each other's emotions, also charcoal actually evolved once :3 it was complicated
