(Author's note: it's been a whole year since I published the last chapter. However, with the reemergence of the H2O fandom thanks to Tiktok, I thought I would upload this chapter. Enjoy!)

For many of the mermaids, this was their first time flying in a plane.

"This is amazing!" Ondina exclaimed, "I've never been up so high!"

"Me either!" Lyla agreed, "It's like swimming in the sky!"

"Look!" Zac said, pointing out of a window, "I can see Mako Island from here!"

"That's cool." Mimmi smiled at her brother.

"Plus, because we're so high in the sky," Emma began, "There's an extremely low chance of us getting wet and transforming."

"And even then," Evie added, "Lewis and I are the only ones on board that aren't mermaids, or in Zac's case, mermen."

Evie sighed. She missed having a tail. Even after the Water Dragon's attack on the Moon Pool took away her powers, Evie still wished she could become a mermaid again.

Zac and Weilan were sitting beside her.

"Evie, I know how much you miss being a mermaid," Zac comforted her, "But Mum's magic was too powerful to reverse the spell on you."

"You sacrificed your tail for Zac" Weilan reminded Evie, "As far as I'm concerned, that's worthy of being an honorary Mako Mermaid."

Evie smiled, "Thanks, Weilan. It was my fault that I lost my tail. I just wanted to protect Zac."

"Besides, you're an excellent free-diver" Zac said.

"I know, it's just not the same." Evie sighed.

"Someone once said that "The hardest choices require the strongest wills." Zac replied.

"Who told you that?" Rikki asked.

"I heard it in a movie once." Zac smiled.

Not long after, the plane arrived in Diego City.

"What are the chances of there being other mermaids here?" Nixie asked.

"We are close to water, so I guess 50/50?" Sirena wondered.

"Looks like we're gonna have to find out for ourselves." Cleo replied.
