Thumbnail design is the DeviantArt component here.

The design is created to satirize thumbnails of the videos pushing the idea I attempt to refute, and simultaneously attract the same viewers who would be lured into said videos. (But with obvious hints that there will be a twist)

*By tutorial I mean angry rant.

Editing this was a fun way to procrastinate instead of my regular methods of avoiding doing actual work

Expect more useful tutorials in the future. (This is more of a PSA)

If you don't have time to watch a video, there's really only one important takeaway:

Just use Unity / C#. Trust me. You won't regret it.

Video Summary:

While doing my daily procrastination on Stack Overflow, I ran into a common question:

"How do you make video games without programming?"

This made me realize there's an entire industry built around exploiting beginner-developers pushing the myth that "Programming is hard"

This rant is my refutation of that idea.

In this video I make the argument that programming, is in fact the easiest way to make video games, and that these "no-code" engines only appear easier due to an outdated myth that "programming is hard".

I argue it's actually as easy, if not easier, than the convoluted and proprietary "alternatives" now aggressively marketing themselves to beginners.

Disclaimer:

Some of the engines I criticize in this video have been used to make some incredible games, such as Hotline Miami and Undertale.

I'm not saying you CAN'T make a game in the engines I mention. I just think they actually make things harder, not easier.

I argue Undertale, Hotline, etc are great DESPITE the "easy" engines used, not BECAUSE of them.

These engines just SEEM easier to people who use them and assume programming is a monumental challenge. Maybe that was the case a decade or two ago... but nowadays, with Unity Engine and C#, it couldn't be further from the truth.
