Awesome library. A lot better than Texas' Trinity University!

I visited that library once but didn't have time to stop to look around properly - a great pity as it is such an amazing library and contains some amazing old materials...

What does Serenissimi Regis mean?

Beautiful picture, btw. I love the lighting.

It's Italian...from what I can figure, it means "most serene ruler." The next arch says Charles II...I'm assuming Charles II, predecessor to James II in the 1600s, since we're in Ireland. Ok guy, I guess. They called him the Merry Monarch, and he's the only guy I've heard of with a Royal Declaration of Indulgence. That's right, show those Puritans who's boss...because Catholics are MUCH less stuffy.

Actually it's in Latin, not Italian. But you got the translation pretty close. The three sections that you can read in the picture translate to "the most cheerful/happy king", "Charles II", and "library". I am assuming that the word Caroli means Charles, and the library's website confirms that the gold lettering commemorates different benefactors of the library-including Charles II.

Heyla, I thought photography was disallowed in that room?
Nice shot, regardless.

Nice library, I like old ones like this. The repititions of the columns and rows in this shot are really nice, good job.

You know what's really sad? When I saw this I thought "Hey, that's just like the library in Star Wars Ep II"... yes, that's sad, still, I guess it means that they got their production design down pat.

This is a great capture of what looks to be a beautiful library.

very well done. I love the lighting especially.
