As soon as I saw this down on the daily deviantation page, I knew it was magic the gathering. Don't ask how, I don't even own the card.. .
I know what. I'll leave you with a random magic the gathering saying for such a lovely painting ^^

Best use of light source I've ever seen.
The light does not just make the character three-dimensional it really lights the scenery up.
And the design is so detailed, awesome! He sure is a great gatekeeper ^^

Wow, yeah, this definitely looks Magic the Gathering-esque. I've always been greatly inspired by their card art. However this looks way too badass to be a 1/1.

Awesome. Maybe you should have drawn the Abyssal Gatekeeper in Magic.
...though I always did think the one in Weatherlight was keen. This is....significantly more intimidating, however.

Very cool, although the style of the painting and the design as a whole got me thinking he looks like a Zelda or Final Fantasy boss.

It seems like quite a few artists for popular/semi-popular stuff are named Mark o-o
Did anyone else notice that or is it me? ._.
This is awesome, by the way~

Funny, the first thing that popped in my head was "Phyrexian," and I hadn't even read the name of the piece yet.
Great job!

This looks nice, I think it would work well as a Darkstalkers character design. I don't know if you are familiar with that game series?
Greets,
