This is basically the process of how I colour with watercolour sticks- (I kept saying pencils but they are STICKS LOL) and coloured pencils. The paper I use is hotpressed watercolour paper. Several people asked me to make one so I did- for once I wasn't lazy LMAO

I really like this tutorial. :3 It's interesting that you use crayola colored pencils and then water color. Does that affect the colored pencils? I'd be worried about messing it up OTL
I suck at crosshatching, maybe I should learn to do it better. Especially since I never thought of crosshatching different colors. I'm like...JUST BLEND AND GO 8D!!
Also, it's a bit more expensive, but drafting tape is really good for taping edges and it not tearing. In my 2D Design class, we used that and masking tape. A few of my pieces were ruined because of the masking tape (D: !!) but for the most part they were okay. I think you just need to take it sloooow while pulling it off. :3

I don't think it affects the pencil crayon at all, its just crayola tends to be more waxy and repel the watercolour off, so you usually use the watercolour for larger areas first
crosshatching is my fave vwv
yeah I know of that, i'll try it sometime, but I just use masking tape, you just gotta make sure you use it on your clothing alot first so it doesn't stick so much c:

Really, this is amazing. I never really knew how to use watercolors before, so I never really liked them, even when I did get around to experimenting and whatnot. They were just.. one of those mediums I almost never used.
But THIS. This is amazing. And not only does it explain watercolors in a brilliant way, but it even has some great tips that can apply for any kind of coloring. I've definitely never used layering to the extent that you do - and now I'm kinda kicking myself for it.
