Long story short Discovery Kids used to have a block on NBC, Back then NBC & Discovery teamed up to make a programing block on Saturday Mornings and so Discovery Kids on NBC was launched after NBC's other Saturday Morning block TNBC which was meant for teens was replaced with Discovery Kids on NBC.
In 2006 Discovery Kids on NBC ended after when Discovery's contract with NBC cannot be renewed this was later when Qubo became a block on NBC, and also at time NBC owned Telemundo (a Spanish American channel) cause it's kids block being replaced by Qubo, it was unfortunate because Nickelodeon used to air their shows on Telemundo, later Nickelodeon moved their shows in Nick on Demand en Español and Univision's Kids block that later launched Planeta U.
