The Books of Oyja V: The Four KarmasChapter 3 The Karma of Earth
I was meditating in my room. I allowed the Force to flow through me, trying to clear my troubled mind. My body had felt, for around an hour now, as though it were in a desert. The desert spoke to me, calling me home. I breathed in and felt the small amount of moisture in the sand become my blood, and heard the desert wind become the movement in my body. Then I saw a figure standing on a sand dune. It laughed loudly and I felt the desert shake with the figure's laughter. The desert sun started to beat fiercely on me. I started to sweat sand instead of water. The figure started to tell me lies, telling me things that made me sad and I started to cry.
I closed my eyes and opened them back up. I was back in my room, out of the desert of my mind. I sighed and then coughed. I looked down on my floor and noticed some grains of sand. I coughed again and put a hand over my mouth. I looked at my hand and felt that the sand had the same feel of the sand as that of the desert I had seen. Suddenly my vision started to go away and I blinked. I shook my head around fiercely and sand came out of my eyes. I was able to see a little better, but the sand kept building up.
I leapt up and turned on my lightsaber. I felt an enemy very close by, and then the sand started to speak to me. The sand started to insult me for being a Jedi and a clumsy old fool. But I doubted it was really the sand speaking, I thought it must be another. "Show yourself!" I shouted and then I felt nauseous. My lightsaber fell out of my hand and my vomit came out in the form of thick mud. When I stopped I could clearly see a figure with brown robes that had grey runes, it had been my vomit. The being was a Caamasi, the smile he gave me was very calming. "Welcome, Master Jinn, I am Yuai." He said. "It is an honor to have you fill my place. Albeit for a short time."
"Your place?" I asked and it seemed as though Yuai blew away into nothingness. Quickly all his layers blew away in a wind that must have been started by the Force. I started to shake quickly as I felt myself splitting up, an internal earthquake. I fell down and started to spasm. I screamed and yelled in extreme pain: I felt a burning fire burning in my stomach and my skin moving as if it were the surface of a planet. Lava started to leak out of my skin and all my clothing and skin was destroyed. My body started to form rivers and valleys that were at the height of perfection.
"You overstep your bounds, young one." Yuai's voice told me and sand blasted from my skin, I looked like I had before with my clothes back on. "You are earth. Neither water nor fire. Do not claim any of those kingdoms for your own."
I nodded and stood up, pulling myself up by the edge of my bed. I felt myself leaving my body and being pulled back. Who was this Yuai? I had never heard of him. Maybe Tahl could find out something about him. I tried to call her, but didn't get anything. I waited for a few moments before I stopped. It looked as though I was going to have to do this on my own.
Using my comlink again, I told Obi-Wan Kenobi, my Padawan, to come to my room. I did not want to leave my room with such an odd event taking place, at least not on my own. I walked to my bathroom and looked into the mirror. I rubbed my beard; it felt as though it were brand new. I turned my head, looking for any damage. There was nothing wrong; in fact, it looked greatly improved. I did not look any younger, but there was a feeling of being reborn about me.
Someone knocked on my door. "Master?" Obi-Wan's voice asked.
"Come in, Padawan." I said and went out of my bathroom. His face was worried, though he tried greatly to hide that fact. "Something happened to me."
Obi-Wan nodded. "I can't explain it, but you look new." He said. "People are going to say you delved into the Dark Side. Can a Jedi do what you did or does it require some other power?"
"I did nothing." I said. "I had a vision where I started to turn into the desert. A person called Yuai talked to me. His talk was short and he gave no explanation of what happened to me or who he was." I picked up my robes. "We'll need to explore the archives together to see if there is anything on Yuai. If he is a Dark Jedi or a Jedi Master."
Obi-Wan nodded. "But can't you use your own files?" He asked as I put on my robes. "I'm sure we don't have to go to the archives."
I turned to him. "Tahl's files might have something on Yuai, but mine don't." I said. "A revision of my files is in order once this task is complete." With that I went out of my room and Obi-Wan followed.
"Are you concerned about this person who claims he's the descendent of a Sith?" Obi-Wan asked. "Why would anyone want to claim that?"
"Minaz needs credits." I replied. "People will do odd things when it comes to that subject. Minaz says he only wants to clear his family's name. Darth Oyja was not a famous Sith, not one that has caused his family problems. It will come out that Minaz is not the descendant of a Sith nor did Darth Oyja cause Minaz's family problems."
"Who was Darth Oyja?" Obi-Wan asked. "I can't remember reading about him."
"You shouldn't waste your time on him." I said. "Darth Oyja's only claims to fame are the killing of three Jedi and being one of the last Sith. No one knows what happened to Darth Oyja. It's as though he just disappeared."
"Then couldn't Darth Oyja just be a myth?" He asked. "I mean, he doesn't seem that interesting."
I nodded as we entered the archives. "That is a mystery for another day, Padawan." I said. "Now let us search for Yuai." We then started to research Yuai. There was nothing on him except on a roster. He was a fighter during the Great Sith War. I could not find anything else about him.
My comlink went off and I answered it. "Hello, this is Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn."
"Master Jinn," Yoda said. "A visitor for you, we have. Come to the Jedi Council Chamber you must."
