Description The Formation 1: Destroyed
Chapter 6 An Idea

I looked at the new room, it was expanded but others on the ship wouldn’t notice. I had used my powers to make the room bigger in one dimension and smaller in another. I had made a garden that was flourishing. It felt as if you were outside and the ceiling was the sky, it was majestic as it should be. Liam was in front of a fountain that had the statue of Elixir Foin in it. The water was gold while the statue was crimson. Other fountains were there as well as exotic plants.

I walked over to Liam and looked at the fountain. “It’s a replica of the one Krystal and I first made love in front of.” I said. “Things like that stay with you.”

“So I take it you haven’t let Krystal wash over you.” Liam said and touched my shoulder. “She is dead now and you shouldn’t mourn her. You need to stay focused on keeping us alive rather than your wonderful sex life.”

“Isn’t sex everything?” I asked and looked at the water. “Pure gold. Something that couldn’t be done without my power, it is too wonderful. It was made by the waning strength of Elixir Foin and Ibsen.” Ibsen was the god that was the mentor of Elixir Foin. While Elixir went to glory Ibsen stayed back and watched Elixir. Elixir was dead but Ibsen was still out there, I could feel it.

“Ibsen.” Liam said and looked at the statue harder. “I know someone who was a former Priest of Ibsen.”

“Former Priest?” I asked. I was worried about this person. Priests and Priestesses were only kicked out of an order for only the most heinous of crimes.

“He was seen worshiping an idol of Jian.” He said. “It was a crime as it was so public. But he’s gotten the position of Portra.” I nodded at this. This former Priest seemed to be pretty tough, the mention of his rank of Portra did honor to him. A Portra was a guardian of scientific expeditions. They were made to fight the toughest of opponents, even warriors bowed to Portras.

“A Portra could be very useful.” I said and started to walk around. “Very useful. But a worshiper of Jian could be very damaging to the Chance. People would think that the Council has turned traitor, that it was the Council that destroyed Sola.”

Liam stopped by some gold roses with jade stems. “I guess that’s a chance we’ll have to take.” He replied. “Sometimes being good doesn’t mean being obedient to orders. Besides, you’re the Voice, they’ll listen to you.”

“You don’t understand.” I said and put my face closer to the roses. “Mizak would disown me, I wouldn’t have goodness in his eyes. And the High Priest still retains position on this ship, no matter that Elixir is now gone. The people are too used to rule under Elixir Foin, and his teachings still hold what is correct.”

“But the people must learn what is true isn’t what was taught on Sola.” Liam said.

I looked up from the roses and stared at him. “Buddy, are you saying you worship Jian?” I asked. “Are you saying you worship the traitor?”

“I am not saying that.” Liam said angrily.

“Then what are you saying?” I asked. “You’re very close to blasphemy. Jian is the traitor, unless it’s proven differently. Many people have agreed that Jian is the traitor, the traitor of the gods.”

“A traitor is a misnomer for Jian.” Liam and walked to another fountain; this one with a pure diamond ball on an onyx pedestal. The water was green; it was salt water like that on the coast of Krian near the Temple of Sola. I looked at it, it reminded me of the fish that swam and how the waves had felt on me. We would need to find a planet with such as the coast of Krian. “He did something wrong but something is hidden. While you practiced being a priest I did my own research. Scrolls of Jian had been badly damaged. What I read convinces me that there is something more.”

I waved my hand and shook my head. “There is truth in the legends they have taught us.” I said. “But if you would show me one of those scrolls I’ll think differently. For now, though, I will believe the truths I have been taught.”

Liam took out a picture of a human male. Dark skinned, silver-haired, and red eyed made him seem threatening. His outfit suggested a warrior and yet a kind side. A side that worshiped Jian and that made a disgusting taste in the back of my mind. “This is Portra Neju.” Liam said. “He has been a Portra for twenty years. He has defended fifty-two explorations in that time. Most were minor but a few entailed huge risks. He is a good guide, Neju knows the Exir galaxy very well.”

“I don’t know about you, buddy, but I’d prefer someone who shows a little more honor.” I said and I stared at the diamond. It reflected the light and seemed a star in its own rights. “Someone caught worshiping Jian isn’t one of my top choices.”

“Pal, have I ever led you astray?” Liam asked and put a hand on my right shoulder. I was about to point out the time he had nearly gotten me killed while trying to take some chickens away from a farmer. He then seemed to reconsider. “How about this: have I ever maliciously led you astray.”

I laughed at that. “No, you haven’t.” I continued to chuckle. “Even though there were thousands of times that I thought you would get me killed. But they were all in good fun. I guess it’s safe to assume your opinions about Portra Neju are correct.”

Liam put his hands in the water and kept them there. “It feels so much like home.” He said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if you left the world for this; it is so much like Sola that one could get lost in it.”

Author’s Note: Yep, for those who read my fanfic series The Books of Oyja, Neju I got from Tenju. I like the name. When I like names I sometimes rearrange the letters and make a new word.
