Hold on, 30 hours straight? Dude, that's like MONSTER.
I really wanted to do a critique, but members only. :\
Anyways, I'm a little confused about the lighting of this piece. Under good shade trees, which I assume yours is, there is aways a marked difference between the shadow within and the light outside. I can see this at the bottom edge of the leaves. It looks sorta like a camera that's set with a small aperture. The light outside is blinding.
However, as you travel up the tree, it does not get darker, as one could expect, but rather lighter. Is this due to those small whitish clumps of leaves? Are they giving off light? You see, if they had been flowers, this would be self-explanatory (I have no problem whatsoever accepting glowing flowers, weird, huh?) but those clumps look just like leaves.
I'm sorry if I haven't been very helpful, or if my critique wasn't very clear, but my final note is thus: the deeper you go into a tree, the darker it should get.
Amazing work and congrats on the DD!
(Also, I saw the apple and the old man's face in there.)

Thank you for your comments, I can see where you are coming from about the lighting and in the case of normal trees that would be correct, however I didn't want to made the tree too dark and overwhelming so I kept it lighter.looking back at it now I might tackle it differently

Trees have always been very important to me but I'm just now realizing exactly how important. Their way of communicating with us is extraordinary and profound but quite subtle. Or maybe it's better to say that it requires a certain sensitivity, a willingness to be vulnerable and open.
I cringe when I see how the trees in Texas are mutilated to make way for power lines
Recently I read in a book by Mantak Chia a form of the microcosmic orbit meditation which includes a tree . How cool!

The incredible amount of detail on this is almost unbelievable it looks like it took forever to do but despite that I feel like it is a little overwhelming and heavy feeling. If you focus on one area at a time though it has amazing beauty.

It's like one of those pictures where you have to search for things; like, there's a fairie, oh and there, another one. Each time I look at it I discover something more..
