This is absolutely beautiful. The whole thing is so organic, the knotwork feels natural like the vines and roots which likely inspired it in ages past. There is a feeling of age and mysticism to this piece. The line work is excellent. The little figures and faces of fairies and whatnot really add a certain charm to the image

Your time keeping skills may not be great but your ability to create textures like this are superb! This is the kind of thing a person could really get lost in. Nice!

This is an excellent drawing, as soon as I saw I was like, "Woah, shit, I gotta click on that."
Although the drawing as a whole is great, my favorite thing about this drawing is how the root of the tree becomes the borders for the drawing, within which many people, fairies, and insects abound. The heavier use of black provides great contrast, which of course makes it easier for the eye to notice the details and the characters. I almost didn't notice the little fairy flying under the left side of the tree canopy, and the little spider hanging under the right side of the tree canopy. Ohh, and I also really like the face of the tree, it has a very old look about it which illustrates perfectly what you said about it being ancient and wise.

Thank you! I used rotring technical drawing pens and rotring black ink. I think the best tip is let your imagination go wild....I have a basic idea of what I want to achieve with a drawing and I get that penciled in first but once I start I tend to let my ideas grow on the paper. For the penwork its just practice and experimentation on shading techniques and creating the illusion of texture....something which is an ongoing thing for me
