I've been listening to a few Edd's stories in his youtube channel about the Forgotten Realms for the last week and it inspired me to make a fanart of one of my favorite locations in the Sword Coast.
Skullport, also known as Shadowport. A decrepit underground settlement built in the bowels of Undermountain, the haunted dungeon and residence of the legendary Mad Mage that extends beneath the streets of Waterdeep.
Unlike the aforementioned metropolis, Skullport can be defined as a wretched hive of scum and villany that welcomes the most wicked and lawless of thieves, buccaneers, slavers, and guilds the Forgotten Realms has to offer. Under the moldering tangle of catwalks threaded between the stalactites of the cavern city, creatures such as illithids, drows, beholders, and other subterranean dwellers, plot and trade to gain power and influence over the city. Dangerous monsters prowl the dark recesses and alleyways, and several gangs and factions constantly fight to gain power over each other.
Here, anything and everything can be bought and sold. From lethal poisons, foul tomes of forbidden magic, and even slaves.
