Something I've been asking myself a lot lately is, "If Disney animated films stayed 2D?". Would they be better or worse? There would definitely be a lot of possibilities.

One of the possibilities is that they would be better. Not necessarily they are bad for being 3D, after all, the animation style does not affect the story and characters development. But in my opinion, 2D is part of the Disney identity, and without 2D and with 3D, Disney is just a "Worse Pixar". Not to mention that even if the movies were bad they would still be really beautiful.

But another possibility is that they would be extremely saturated. The Princess and the Frog is a great example of this, since Aladdin Disney has followed the same formula: "There's the protagonist, the villain, the romantic interest, and the comic sidekick(more than one depending on the movie)". The Princess and the Frog has three comical sidekicks, the firefly, the alligator, and the frog itself(sorry I don't remember the characters' names...), because I don't consider him the co-star. They are annoying and not funny. The villain is also just a shameless copy of Jafar and Scar. It may be that Disney has followed this same formula to this day and their films are extremely saturated and tiring. But this possibility may be small, because maybe The Princess and the Frog is just an attempt to go back to the roots after so many bad 3D films. But I don't rule out this possibility.

But there is another possibility, the recent films could still be the same in story and characters, but all in 2D(with the exception of some parts of the background scenery and crowd in the background). They would still be bad, but at least they would be more beautiful to look at. I'm not saying that all recent Disney animated films are totally bad, but most of them are, while others are good but not as memorable as the older films.
