Small, feathered quadruped creatures with thin, long bodies and avian heads and wings. Their bird features can resemble practically any species of bird, however they will never grow any larger than a small apprentice. And while their diets and appearance may vary depending on their variant, the species' general behavior and mannerisms stay the same thoughout. As such, owl-resembling pygmy gryphons will not be nocturnal, but may prefer meats over greens, while jay variants prefer seeds and nuts.

Species' Notes:
With remarkable intelligence and bird-like forelimbs, these little creatures have been observed using tools and charming cats with their quirky mannerisms in order to get what they want.
They have incredible pattern recognition and memory, and as such are able to derive the meaning of tone and speech patterns without actually comprehending the language itself.
Sometimes, a pygmy gryphon may take a liking to a specific cat and claim them as its own. These individuals will be preened twice a day and serve as the gryphon's protector and humble servant... in their mind, at least.
It's their loyalty and pickiness that makes these birds difficult to tame.
Nest in trees or rockfaces; they never burrow or live on the ground.
Despite what their mammalian hindquarters might lead you to believe, these creatures lay eggs and will 'loaf' like a cat in their nests to incubate them.
