Description
Ever since I discovered the game back in late 2012, and soon found out that it had rails, I wanted to build some kind of system that would make it practical to get off the tracks without having to wait until you reach the end or having to hop off run after your minecart and break it immediately afterwards. This whole thing started off as an experiment, but it didn't stay like that for very long because I was bored at the time. It wasn't until late 2016 that devised my first solution using trapped chests over the rails that you had to open in order to change the track in order to get your minecart off the rails.
The following year, I improved upon that my using levers and observers to detect the block update, and change the track like that. Soon afterwards, I replaced the levers with fence gates. With that, I built my rail network just like expressways in real life as it was the most practical method of execution, at least in my opinion.
First, I built entry and exit ramps and implemented my invention in such a way as to allow players on minecarts to enter and exit the railroad at designated locations just like how vehicles enter and exit them in real life.
Later on I built the interchange bit by bit. I also had to make letters using banners in order to indicate exits and other important information to drivers just like expressways in real life. These are the large green signs that are placed over and by the rails. The banners aren't shown here as they are too far away to for the software to render them.
By that time the year was 2018, and I was finishing High School. Afterwards I made a few changes here and there to in order to optimize it. What is currently here is the latest revision at the time of upload. So yeah, it has come quite a long way.
