I would like to start out by thanking all of you for work here, I know many of you had plans and I thank you for arriving on such short notice. You have all done wonderfully, and worked hard to make up for our lack of funds and people.
That said, I would like to address some of the issues that have been called to my attention. As you know, due to aforementioned lack of funds and staff, we have asked the people of the region to assist us in our digging. Some of you have noticed that the locals have a few… quirks, and not just the kinds that people living in a freezing cold region are likely to develop.
In order from least serious to most urgent, some of them have… eaten dirt, or begun digging with spoons. While odd, unless they choke on fossils or items, leave them to it. It doesn’t seem to be hurting them. Normally I would suggest you respond but as many of you know, we have larger issues.
Those who are quite serious with their digging, also leave be. No they cannot dig to the center of the earth but let them tire themselves out, unless they are at risk of weakening our support structures.
Speaking of which, do not let anyone break anything. I cannot stress this enough. They are digging, not bringing the mine down.
The reports of people, dressing in maid outfits, seducing the dirt, or attempting to take it out to dinner are beginning to pile up and frankly that is concerning. If not only emotionally but because we must have some decorum of safety. Those in outfits inappropriate for digging should be turned away, and those engaging in wilder activities you do not have to deal with personally. Please report such matters to security.
For those of you that have claimed the earth “shifted” or the walls “oozed blood” or that they heard the “voice of the elder ones” please stop spreading ghost stories. If you are hearing or seeing such things please check in with medical, get some water and take the day off.
Again, thank you all for your hard work.
Dr. Shale
