Description

Full Name : Seth

Age : Very old and died once

Occupation : God of sand, war and betrayal - Lord of The Desert

Birthday : December 29

Height : 1,5 m

Abilities :

  • Instinctive warrior. He is skillful with sword, lance, bow and many other weapons. With his sand abilities, he can make his body as hard as rock and use this super strength against his opponent and shield himself. His fighting style is mostly based on his instincts, since he doesn't tend to think much of making plans during his fights. He goes in with full power and hopes for the best, which works... Most of the time.

  • Sand control.

                           1) Earthquakes, storms and floods. Seth becomes the worst menace there is when he is in the desert. Every place there is sand is at his mercy. These abilities were often used to protect Deshret and prevent outsiders from coming in.

                           2) Golems. With sand, Seth can create golems. The big ones are usually reserved for combat or transporting heavy carriages. The littles ones are called the Laborers : they are little creatures with a conscience on their own, helping their god with tasks such as architecture, field work, housekeeping, etc. They have the intelligence of little children and can be annoying to deal with, but Seth would rather have them than slaves that are harder to replace.

                           3) Burning sand. Seth can make the sand melt and form the shape he desires. He can also make glass, which is less solid but it still has its usefulness.

                           4) Cockroach syndrome. He can turn himself into sand. If his head gets cut ? Another one will grow and take its place. This ability made him the most feared god after his brother Osiris, god of life and immortality.

  • Inventor and builder. If his brother Osiris was the god of life, Seth was most known for his inventions. The desert was there to prevent outsiders from invading Desheret, however life became difficult for those living there. Seth created a system that would bring water consistently from the river Nile to the desert, irrigation system for crops, concrete and more. Although some might think he doesn't have the look or character of a typical scholar, the desert god always considered himself more of an inventor than a warrior.

Weaknesses :

  • All or nothing. When facing a powerful opponent, Seth tends to use all his power. However, using all this power like this can take a toll on his soul and make him very weak. When weak, Seth takes the form of an inoffensive little golem. When in this form, being too embarrassed to show himself, he hides in his temple and only comes out after he heals weeks or months later.

  • Wet sand. Water makes him weak, because the sand becomes harder to control and can't really mix well with dry sand.

Likes : Architecture, fights, wine, lettuce

Dislikes : Water, baths, receiving orders, spicy and sweet food (very picky eater)

Backstory : Seth was the god of the desert. Alongside his brother Osiris, who was king, he watched over the people of Desheret. It was peaceful and Desheret was the most flourishing nation there was.

However, peace ended the day Seth brutally murdered his brother Osiris. He cutted his corpse into pieces and put his remains in the Nile, source of life, so that all gods know what happened. Seth always despised Osiris for belittling him and he felt like his brother saw him as sand in his sandal that had to be thrown away. After all, Osiris was known to have no interest in useless and noisy things, destroying them in an instant. Seth's paranoia reached a point where he made a deal with an unknown god who claimed he could end the god of immortality and life. His name was Apophis, he was a giant snake and claimed that just like the supreme creator Ra, he was also a creature born from the void. Seth was able to put an end to his feared opponent with the strange creature's help.

It felt like a liberation. The tyrant died and Seth was able to successfully take his place. However, Isis, wife of Osiris felt betrayed by Seth's action and tried to bring her lover back to life, but in vain. Instead, she created with the remnants of her loved one and her magic a child named Horus. Furious, Seth sent Apophis to chase Isis and her newborn. Every god and mortal that helped her hide was eaten by the creature by the god of sand's will. With the help of Nephthys, goddess of peace, Isis was able to escape and find Ra in his boat in the sky. She told him about the murder, Apophis and how Horus came to be.

Furious, Ra descended upon the earth and slayed Apophis and sealed his corpse in the underworld, where its corrosive energy could not reach the surface. Then, he punished Seth and declared him a traitor. Ra sent him and his followers to the abyss with Apophis' corpse, where there is no way out. Horus became king and Isis gifted magic to mortals. But in the end, even though it was peaceful, the god of life was dead and the desert covered the almost totality of the nation, leaving Desheret weaker than it was. People started calling it the curse of the traitor, thinking it was Seth's wish to end it all.

Seth died alone. His followers, trapped in the abyss with the corrosive energy of Apophis started to go insane while their souls and body started to dissolve slowly in the darkness. They called their once savior a traitor and tried to use Apophis energy to kill him, without success, but his soul was still partially destroyed. Feeling extreme guilt, Seth killed his own people then let himself die and rot next to Apophis.

... Until he wakes up, very much alive on the surface somewhere in the desert, not remembering much, with no other clue than a voice in his head that tells him he must find Apophis' remnants, destroy them and then, Ra will set him free. After all, with his soul being so impacted by Apophis power, Seth became a remnant as well, so it will be easier for him to find them.

(I tried my best to make it short... sorry!! ;; It's missing many details because I might do a comic later)

Character : Seth is a rather introverted and distant individual, he is a man of few words. His solitary nature makes it hard for others to try to befriend him and his pride can get in the way of making friends too. Actually, talking to him often ends with a fight or just with an awkward silence. Plus, his relationship with Osiris makes it hard for him to trust others and people can't help like if they're constantly being tested by him. Because he doesn't remember who he was very well, Seth refuses to let his doomed fate lead him to despair. He is almost in denial of what he did and refuses to get punished for what the other Seth did. He will do whatever he can to rebuild Desheret and end the evil the bad Seth did, so that he can avoid a punishment he believes he does not deserve.
Although reserved, Seth is still a playful character with a little sadistic sense of humour. He enjoys being a troublemaker.

Other :

  • He was married to Nephthys (goddess of peace) and she had a child with him named Anubis. When Seth became a tyrant, Anubis went against his father’s will and helped his mother to save Isis. He became the god of death and final judgment.

  • Ra is most likely the one who brought Seth back to life, but after slaying Apophis and sending Seth to the abyss, he was never seen on the surface again. The one ordering Seth around to eliminate Apophis' remnants claims to be the final sun, the only remaining Ra.
